I know little about the history of soccer. Had never heard of Puskas, or the guy Ronaldo is behind in International goals, Daei.

(Daei, not so much!) 706 goals in 719 games for clubs and countrie s. He played for the Spanish national side as well as Hungary! (Never scored for Spain in his 4 matches though.)

Daei isn't that special, but Puskas is one of the greatest strikers of all-time and part of the Hungarian team that should have won the World Cup. The 1954 Hungarian team together with the 1974 Dutch team are probably the two best teams to not win the World Cup.

Puskas was the best player on the Hungary team that by all accounts should have won the 1954 World Cup but didn't - they lost to West Germany in the final.

There's quite a good German movie about that match (and the build up to it.) Hungary had beaten West Germany 8-3 in the group stages two weeks before the final!
