Your lack of intellectual articulation here merits that I declare it Example 2.

I think Jaws fans are the worst. They actually have a convention where people dress up as Quint or Bad Hat Harry. haha But on that Star Wars thing--there are crazy Star Wars fans--but anything that has a lot of public reception is going to have some psychos. Lucas got a bad reception to his prequels but much of that is due to his lack of judgement in making them. If it sucks and there is enough avenues to express displeasure, it can seem like an avalanche. The Tran thing is nothing more than an internet version of the Gong Show. She had no talent-was given a big media platform to showcase it, then dumbly allowed herself to be open to public comment. Not smart. It's just the reality of numbers and the ability to post anonymously. Disney is blaming audiences for their own creative failures. Regardless if you think she doesn't have talent it's still not cool to harass an actress just because you hate her character. That's like Tumblr level of stupidity.

But she has a means of being easily contacted. How do we know she was harassed beyond anything common for the internet? People may have randomly watched the movie and went--man, this character sucks.
Then because she was easy to contact-they just wrote to her and said: boy you suck.
Not unless one person wrote to her a thousand times. Only then could we say it was targeted harassment.
I think even people who claimed to like the movie said her character sucked.
Its unlikely she had many fans.

Have you SEEN what's common for the internet? Common on the internet for a minority, female who isn't a size 2? I have seen the abusive nature of it. But chances are, if Kelly Hu played the same role, even if she tried to be as obnoxious as possible, she would not get such hate mail. That may not be fair, but who said life is? If someone with no merit presents themselves publicly, they should not be surprised if they are open to ridicule. Could have easily been solved if she didnt have a social media account.

She is a person. She has merit. And if you don't want to get robbed, you shouldn't own anything worth robbing.

Every public figure gets attacked on social media, which is why most of them don't read it.
Hell, my 76 year old mother has been attacked on social media.
Why would it all of a sudden be different for KMT?
Heat... kitchen.

She is a person. She has merit. That may work in an AA meeting but not in show business. She is exposing herself to the public. She has to have public merit.
The term "rotten tomatoes" originated in theater as a term that referred to audiences pelting the stage with rotten vegetables if they really disliked it. People today are just too soft. Nowadays talent is a bad word--cuz everybody has talent. Everything is equal.
If that were true, than a lump of stone is equal in artistic merit to Michaelangelo's Pieta. Common sense says otherwise.
And that is what is missing. Common sense.

The answer to this question would depend on "when" you ask it. Which time period? The Twihards were extremely rampant during the heyday of the Twilight movies but have since died down once their movies completed. The Star Wars fans have mostly been a decent crowd up until TFA and TLJ where they turned into an angry mob. I guess if I were to pick the worst fanbase during their peak, it would have to be the Nolanites. They were by far the cruelest and most aggressive fanbase around. No other fanbase would go into the boards of every other big blockbuster to harass people and claim their superiority. Plus they were infamous for resorting to death threats against people who disagreed with Nolan supremacy.

MCU. Their fans lie alot about marvel pre-disney and cannot handle other comic films from existing. ... I have paid to see Suicide Squad, Justice League, Batman v Superman, & Wonder Woman in theater. Just wish they had been better films

Don’t blame SW fans. They’ve been fucked over the most by the studios. No one is picking on minorities or diversity. If the films were anything other than crap then you wouldn’t hear shit about trolls.

If the films were anything other than crap then you wouldn’t hear shit about trolls. I'm sorry but SW fans have been toxic way before there recent shenanigans. Their toxicity goes way back. It started with Jedi and the "space bears" crap, through the re-release of the special editions. They ruined a kids life because they didn't like a character he played when he was 9. Made the creator of the series wash his hands of the movies and sell it to another company. Were vocal when god forbid a Storm Trooper was black. Rian Johnson received death threats over Last Jedi. And now caused a person to withdraw from social media. I don't care if they think the movies are crap. There is a line and SW fans cross it more than other fanbases.

***I use the collective You in this rant. It doesn't mean one person. I am speeking about the toxic people in fandoms.***
I'm tired of this whiny entitled bullshit from fandoms. Studios, Writers, Actors, Artist don't owe fans a goddamn thing. They create an artistic product. If you don't like it fine don't buy or consume it. It's their ideas not yours. They can do anything with those ideas they want. You have the right not to see it, but that's it. They didn't rape your childhood. They haven't done a thing to you. They've tried to tell a story that they want to tell. That's it. Fandoms need to grow up and quit thinking because they liked a piece of art they are responsible for it. The only way they are responsible for a piece of art is if they shut their whiny mouths, rolled up their sleeves, and actually try and create something. They aren't creators they are consumers. They add nothing to the art.

A tie between superhero movie fans, Star Wars fans and Supernatural fans. The extreme Sam and Dean fans take fandom to a whole new level with their attacks on actresses who play characters that look like they could be future love interests for the brothers and their incestuous fan fiction stories about Sam and Dean.

Why would it all of a sudden be different for KMT? Heat... kitchen. Who said anything has to be different for her? Nobody. She is merely a relevant example to the subject of Star Wars, much like how Jake Lloyd has been brought up numerous times now as having also been the victim of the retarded side of Star Wars fandom. People aren't defending her because someone dared impugn her honor. They're defending her because unjustified harassment by drooling manchildren is generally seen as complete fuckwittery across the board. That she could have chosen a better way to handle it for herself doesn't make them and their actions suddenly disappear.

didn't nolan fans send rape/death threats over tdk and tdkr reviews star wars fans are passionate, but the majority are fine Yes they did. DCEU fans sent death threats to critics and to a guy just reporting Justice League was 2 hours long. MCU nut jobs sent death threats because Hawkeye was absent from Infinity War. Every fandom has there psychos. The Star Wars fandom just has more. It's probably just that Star Wars films are older and have had more "reasons" to go psycho. I believe Star Wars psychos are the only one that berated a 9 year old kid.
