I reckon Belgium could overtake Russia's 5 goal high score here. Could be 3-3 already! I stand by what I just said😉

Last WC game to have 2 hat-tricks?
They may be taken off for rest before they have a chance though

Last WC game to have 2 hat-tricks? They may be taken off for rest before they have a chance though There have been three occasions when two hat-tricks have been scored in the same match. Two occurred during the 1938 FIFA World Cup: when Sweden defeated Cuba, Gustav Wetterström and Harry Andersson, both playing for Sweden, scored three goals, with the former completing his in the first half. In the Brazil vs Poland, Leônidas did it for Brazil and Ernest Wilimowski for Poland. One occurred in 1954: when Austria defeated Switzerland, Theodor Wagner and Josef Hügi scored hat-tricks for Austria and Switzerland respectively.

Belgian defence is a bit shaky, but Kompany should be good to go against England. Not sure for how long, the guy has physical problems, is a tad injury prone to say the least, but that will help. There’s also Vermaelen who is now fit too, but hasn’t played for quite some time.

I forgot about games where both sides had a player who scored a hat-trick. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_FIFA_World_Cup_hat-tricks

Factoid: Portugal 3 Spain 3 is the only World Cup finals game to feature a hat-trick that ended in a draw.

I hadn't put much stock in the pre-tournament hype about Belgium making a deep run or even winning the World Cup, but now that I have seen them (and Argentina, and Germany, and Brazil) I have to say that they do have a decent shot at the World Cup.

Best to wait till next Thursday. England will be a better test than Panama and Tunisia.

Lukaku is off, not a bad choice, he might be injured Hobbling off. He always sort of hobbles, but he had to receive treatment on his ankle in the first half. Good choice by Martinez to let him rest.

Another good choice. Hazard also took some blows in this match and against Panama. No need to take any chances with him.

Yeah, the focus is a bit gone. Not without reason. Batshuay tends to score in about every match he plays, but might not happen this time.

Batshuayi couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. What are they teaching him at Chelsea?

This does show the difference in quality between Batshuayi and Lukaku.

This does show the difference in quality between Batshuayi and Lukaku. Lukaku is better, but he can mess up perfectly good chances too.

Batshuayi still gets his goal.
