Bette MidlerGrammy Award winner and Two Time Academy Award Nominee Another one of my favorites, along with Julie Andrews, whom you mentioned before. It's amazing - but perhaps not surprising - how many singers became remarkable actors. There's definitely a connection between the two skills.

Kathleen Howard (1884 - 1956) was once an opera mezzo-soprano star at the Metropolitan in New York, who retired from singing in 1928. She went to California for the weather, but ended up as a character actress for nearly 20 years instead, especially remembered when she played the angry wife of W.C. Fields in a couple of movies.

Judy Garland started out in a singing sisters act and then became rather well known for her acting Yup, Bat. Don't know how I forgot her. Definitely one of my all-time favorites. Great singer and a wonderful actress when given the chance. I adore, admire, and miss her.
