Anyone else have a film that seems almost too perfect NOT to be a sequel to another film? Any creative ideas you can give me? I'd like to put two unrelated films together and see if they fit as a sequel.
This is what gave me the idea: I once read "Bushwhacked" (1995) with Daniel Stern was originally conceived by Fox Family Pictures as a sequel to Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Between 1993 and 1994 Fox was trying to cash in on the success of Home Alone, but couldn't crack the code on how to do a spin off or sequel.
The idea they finally greenlit was Daniel Stern's Marv gets out because he gave up everything and Harry has a life sentence. Now out and on probation, (maybe even witness protection, I can't remember) he's trying to live the straight and narrow. Working for a FedEx type company. Then the events of "Bushwhacked" happen exactly how you see them. The only exception being his name is Marv and the scout kids find out who he is and the media leaks out he was the one who terrorized Kevin Mcallister. It ends the same way, with the exception that when he is now a scout leader Kevin makes a cameo as one of the new recruits to Boy Scouts and Marv screams in terror.
The studio decided they didn't want to go this route, but wanted to make a Home Alone 3 with another kid, however this film was already in pre-production, so they re-wrote the name of Daniel Stern's character and revised the script slightly. Focusing more on the scouts and the scout leader.
To this day I pretend it's a follow up to Home Alone 2 for fun.

I think that 'Panic in Year Zero' (1962) is a prequel to the Mad Max series.

No but I marked out during Ocean's 13 when Al Pacino & Andy Garcia meet & share a Godfather'esque couple seconds.
