What's not to love about the man. Plus, strangely enough, he was one of the producers of David Lynch's THE ELEPHANT MAN. I say strangely because it's a film so against Brooks' type. It's quite grim but I love it. It garnered an Oscar nomination for John Hurt and featured Mel's beautiful wife, Anne Bancroft. My friends and I saw it when it first premiered and we still quote it to this day. "I am NOT an animal!"  |

 My Favorite Year 1982 with Peter O'Toole in an Oscar nominated performance as has been matinee idol a la Errol Flynn. This was also produced by Mel Brooks' Brooksfilms.  84 Charing Cross Road 1987 with Anne Bancroft and Anthony Hopkins was also produced by Mel Brook's Brooksfilms.
