Aaaah, my eyes! Why the hell is everything orange including the skin tones? Anyone who thinks that looks good must be color blind. It's just the movie's style. I don't find much wrong with it.

I really enjoyed it too. If I do have a complaint, as I remember it, the movie didn't leave much to the imagination or the visuals to move the story along (Hence the instances of predictable dialogue?). That was something I respected the original for;it's not really one of my favorite Scott films.
well.....i'd have to agree with what you said, visually it's not as.......... breathtaking as the original, because while stunning it doesn't have the hyper-stylized look that Scott had during Blade Runner (and Alien), an aesthetic you can argue trumped the narrative, while with blade runner 2049 the focus was........the story which allowed it to be a more palatable film.

Was that really Sylvia Hoeks doing all of those BIG kicks or was it a stunt double ? I hope it was her. Agreed, I definitely hope so as well.

I could watch a movie just about the romance between hologram girl and K. Very sad movie That was definitely the best element of the film. Though when he puts her on a flash drive and it's outright announced "if this gets broken, you're dead", it takes some of the tension and shock value away because you're immediately thinking "well, that's getting broken."

I actually thought it was too obvious that it would get broken that i expected them to NOT break it. Then it fell out during the fight and i thought 'really?'.

I almost thought it could be a subversion until he dropped it in the car. At that point, it was playing out as a typical "setup/reminder/payoff" so she was toast. I do appreciate how the film made me care more about the fate of a flash drive than the main character for awhile there, though.

My biggest issue with this movie is I only care about one character - Joi. For no known reason I just think she lights up the movie when she's there.
I would actually tilt toward disliking the movie if not for her character and how she interacts with the main character which makes me empathize with him.
Otherwise it's too glib and lacks a personal touch and, oddly enough, the stakes don't seem too important despite the enormity of what is realized.

That was only in the scenes which matched the specific lighting effects and created environments too. A polluted desert environment, that is dusty and hazy, which the sun would find difficult to penetrate through, is bound to make it's inhabitants sickly and yellow looking.

This was a terrific sequel, to a cult classic and was also a difficult act to follow. I went in with much trepidation and knowing the long running time beforehand, I was thinking that this would just be a boring, self-indulgent and ultimately hollow mess. I was proven completely wrong and was so impressed, I went back to see it 2 weeks later. This film was made with pain-staking detail, skill, intelligence and respect, even if there are a few holes in it. Nothing is perfect though, but this one comes pretty darn close.

Its a damn shame this made a loss at the box office. Audiences dont have appreciation or the patience for great movie art like this anymore.

Magnificent. The visuals alone....you could put this movie on mute, have no idea whats happening, and just watch it go from set piece to set piece and be entertained. I loved it. Its hard for me to think of any real complaints...maybe a bit of dialog is a little predictable but if you watch enough movies that tends to be true for all of them. Gosling as K was solid, de Armas as his holographic wife Joi was gorgeous as ever and basically subsituted as his emotional conscious which was a great move. Ford was fine, altho he doesnt come in until more than halfway through and thats probably for the best. It makes the movie feel much more independent from the first. Hoeks as Luv was surprisingly awesome! Our primary antagonist that is constantly tracking K throughout the entire film. She stole the scene several times. Most the the supporting roles were fine. I read something that suggested this may be the best sequel ever made...and thats something thats hard to really pin down but i will say that my immediate impression is that its on the short list. Definitely recommend for pretty much anyone. Visually it's magnificent at times and the score is great. But the story is incredibly weak, with generic characters. Blade Runner is probably my favorite film so this had a lot to live up to; but my feeling walking out of the theater was how utterly unnecessary it was. I didn't need to know what happened to Deckard and Rachel. What I do need explained is why the dystopia of the original has somehow been reversed in a generation's time. What exactly happened in Vegas that made it uninhabitable for decades yet left it in pristine condition? And how long ago was this disaster, because we saw the world had already gone to shit by 2019 in the original. So in the last 30 years it went from dystopia to futuristic paradise to irradiated wasteland? The writing is just lousy. Leto's character was a cartoon villain from a bad Bond movie and his motivation was illogical. He wants replicants that can procreate? Why? Has he taken any time to think about how this will affect his bottom line as the lone source of replicants? What was the point of all that protocol to ensure the replicants working for the police stay on their baseline if there are no repercussions when they aren't? "Your kind have a history of going berserk and killing people, hence the testing after each mission. Now that you've failed your test horribly, go ahead and come out of this controlled environment. Take a day off and let me know how you feel tomorrow." It makes no sense. I liked K but I didn't think his spiritual journey was anything close to Roy's in the original, not sure why they gave him the Tears in Rain music at the end. The Luv character was garbage. That awful line, "Bad dog!" And again Leto hamming it up with that nonsensical character, twirling his mustache as opposed to the aloof nature of Tyrell's moral ambiguity from the original. 2049 is Blade Runner without the soul, without the brain, without the nuance of the original. A pale facsimile. It's probably a fun movie if you haven't seen the original in a while, but it's still poorly written.
