You know, where the girl is in love with a poor boy from he wrong side of the tracks while her family wants her to be with the upper class boy who she hates.
Are there any movies that parody this? The girl loves the rich boy, but her parents for whatever reason hate the rich boy and try to get her to marry the poor boy who has no future?

I'm not sure that is a cliche.
Still, there seemed to be a movie out where a well off dad likes the poor latino boyfriend and warns him that his troubled daughter would ruin is opportunities if he stays with her.
I can't remember the title though.

Nah. In the kind of movie I'm thinking of, Jennifer Grey would want to get with a rich snob while the family wants her to get with Patrick Swayze.

Not a parody, but Win a Date With Tad Hamilton sorta does this. Hamilton is a rich celebrity the main girl is in love with, while Topher Grace works in a grocery store. Main girl's dad tells Grace "I was rooting for you", or something to that effect.
I don't really remember the parent situations in these movies, but we're supposed to be rooting for the rich boys in Pretty In Pink and that cheesy sh*tshow Here on Earth.

I seem to recall some movie where the father says to the mother "Remember how poor I was when we first met?" giving the approval to the poor suiter to his daughter. I don't remember what movie, though.
