I still highly enjoy it and think it's easily the best of the post-T2 sequels. Yeah, it's goofy as hell, but what were you expecting from an unnecessary sequel? I also respect it for being more self-aware and the TX is awesome. No film is necessary.

Well considering how T2 made a fitting conclusion in the double bill, there really wouldn't be a real reason to do another one, besides for the money. Edit: My bad, I thought you said "No film is unnecessary." In that case, I feel that most films should be made to keep the buffs fresh for more.

I remember it being decent, and the female terminator was a nice change of pace. OP has obviously failed Movie Economics 101 if he thinks they should have shut up shop on the franchise after a huge hit of a sequel.
No argument that the franchise nosedived after the third installment, though.

It doesn't matter how much money the movies have made. If you have no more ideas, then stop.

I actually like T3 quite a bit. It's kind of corny in parts and rehashes T2 a great deal, but it has one of the ballsiest endings in cinema and the action sequences were pretty damn well-done. I think it does a good job of realizing its place in the franchise and not trying to outshine the originals or reinvent the wheel. It's very workman like.

Too much of a re-thread of Terminator 2 in my eyes. Basically Terminator 2.0 with no Sarah Connor and a lacklustre villain.

I liked 'Salvation' more tbh. This isn't exactly terrible but really 'meh'. Although that chase scene with the crane truck is one of the best action scenes from the 2000s.

Schwarzenegger supposedly coughed up some of his own money for the crane scene because it originally didnt have the window breaking stuff.
