That said, one film I promised myself I would never watch is the German movie "Cannibal" (2006) based on the real life story of the two men who met on the Internet and lived out the unhealthiest of fetishes. My super hardcore horror friend, Alan, said "Cannibal" is the only movie he would never see again. Has anybody here seen this movie? I own it and have seen it 2 or 3 times. It would make my top 10 most disturbing movies I’ve ever seen list. It is a well-made realistic portrayal of the real life story and not a cheap shockfest, but it is very disturbing.

Where to start? The whole Saw franchise. The Wrong Turn movies. The Human Centipede movies. I didn't care for the first I Know what you Did Last Summer and sure as hell have no desire to see the other 500 movies in the franchise, Scream lost its appeal after the first 1 so haven't bothered watching any of those sequels either or the MTV spinoff. Rob Zombie's Halloween movies or for that matter really, anything he's made. Hostel, its sequel, Cabin Fever, does it have a sequel? The remakes of Last House on the Left, Hills have Eyes, Carrie, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, The Wicker Man, Fright Night, pretty much anything that's been remade in the last 15 years. ANYTHING that falls under the 'torture porn' category...with possible exception of Revenge of the Living Dead Girls, pointlessly barbaric, not even pointfully barbaric, just pointlessly, but it still had potential, love that ending though. I have never seen any of the Friday the 13th movies, not for any real reason, they've just never appealed to me. I prefer Michael Myers. I agree with quite a bit of this (especially the part about the remakes) but - notwithstanding what the series later evolves into - the first Saw movie from 2004 is basically a dark crime thriller/horror hybrid heavily reminiscent of Se7en (1995). Though disturbing, the film is not quite the torture porn it's often made out to be (and which the series soon becomes).

Have you seen Grimm Love? The one with Keri Russell? It's based on the same story. I haven't seen Cannibal, but I wonder how they'd compare.

I have no desire to watch Lucifer Valentine’s vomit-gore films.

I have no desire to watch Lucifer Valentine’s vomit-gore films. They have impressive gore effects. Other than that they’re worthless garbage.

Sounds more like an “actual movie”, while Cannibal is more a reproduction of the crime.

Strangely, A Serbian Film has the warmest depiction of a basically decent family I've ever seen in a movie. That makes their debasement even more wrenching. Can't recommend the movie on that basis, however. Cannibal Holocaust. In its defense I will argue if you can sit through that you can sit through anything thrown up on the screen today. Rather amazing for a movie released almost four decades ago. One movie I don't care to see again is the otherwise "softcore" Emanuelle in America (1977). Dropped in for no comprehensible reason is a brief "snuff/torture" film horrifying in its realism and grubbiness. The unnerving five minutes or so take the viewer completely out of the general silliness.

To Be Twenty (1978). Sometimes classified as a "sex comedy". It's not.

Probably not enough to change my mind with other factors involved, but the documentary he made - Black Metal Veins - seems to be a lot better received, consistently so, when compared to his feature films.

I refuse to watch a lot of modern crappy, filled with lame jump scares, PG-13, ghost movies.

Serbian Film is horrible.
Haven’t seen Cannibal Holocaust. Closet I’ve gotten was that Eli Roth movie from a few years ago.

I am not interested in the various horror remakes. The Fog, Halloween etc..
I did see the Hills Have Eyes which I liked-but I had not seen the original. After I watched it, I was surprised how much the remake borrowed.
But one big improvement was the radiation angle (though doesn't that mean the surviving characters would die for radiation sickness?) and having that mutant in the chair who gets attacked by the dog Beast.

Totally agree OP. Those would be my 2 choices too. What kind of sick minded pieces of shits would actually want to watch such evil filth? Anyone who has seen those "movies" should be deeply ashamed of themselves.

Not all movies are meant to be enjoyable. I think I disagree with that. But that’s just me. I can’t account for why other people watch movies.
