Hitchcock's 1930's to 1950's output was amazing.
I'm hit and miss with Kubrick. Some of his films were genius others were losers (in my opinion).

Overrated indeed, but every A list director will say one or both inspired them to become directors.

And I say that Kubrick and Hitchcock are two of the greatest - and, NO, I have NOT "overrated" them. That is how I have exactly rated them. It is more than a little arrogant of you to say that people who hold K and H in high regard are wrong or don't know how to rate directors, as if only your opinion, in a field of discussion which is ONLY opinion, is valid.

Ok but, the average person who has only a slight interest in movies isn't going to necessarily know or understand that these two directors are above average or why.
Only what is called a 'film nerd' would be able to indentify many of the films by each director. Just sayin'.
