A madman in a good cause. Some say he was sane but Pottawatomie was just murder and Harper's Ferry was downright stupid. He actually did more harm than good. After Harper's Ferry, the South grew to think that ALL Northern's were John Brown. The one thing that all Southerners feared was a slave revolt, even if they owned no slaves.
Damn, John Brown's story would make a great movie. Done right, the lead could be an Oscar worthy role.
