The first quarter-final of the 2018 World Cup, Uruguay vs France. I'm more invested in the one this evening, because I want Brazil to be destroyed, but I'm still very much looking forward to this one. With players like MbappΓ©, Suarez & Cavani this could be a game with a lot of goals. And maybe, just maybe, Griezmann will also finally play a good game this WC. All I want to see today is MbappΓ© sprinting past everyone and then I'll be happy. I'm predicting a win for France, but it won't be easy. 2 - 3 for France with 2 goals by MbappΓ©.Β

I hope Cavani is fully recovered; it would be a shame if he misses out.
I would like Uruguay to win but I think it will be France. I wish I could watch, but unfortunately it won't be possible.

Could be the game of the round. Like Jep, I hope Cavani is fit to play.

France seems slightly the favourite imo. A 2-1 victory for them.
Given their past encounters, that result would be miraculous, though.

We are less than two hours from kick-off here in Nizhny Novgorod and the temperature is already 24c, although there are some clouds above us and there is a good chance of rain. My Easi-Trav barometer informs me that precipitation is 63% and humidity 50%.
There are many Uruguayan fans sitting outside the Lepi Testro restaurant just across the river from the stadium. The Russian dumplings are very popular and fans are straining their ears every time the waitress comes out from inside and calls out an order number. There is no table service here but the dumplings are well worth going to collect yourself.
After lunch many will take the short walk to the Berezka Bar for a house-infused vodka. It's about the only 24 hour joint around here and barmen Anel and Ruslan and their colleagues will be happy to receive you for breakfast, dinner or just a bloody good booze-up any time of day or night.
After Bar Berezka it's across the river and into the stadium for today's action. The Uruguayan fans are still in the dark as much as anybody whether Cavani will be fit enough to start, but they seem happy enough either way. The French fan contingent is thin on the ground around here. Maybe they're across town somewhere.

Never C/P without giving credit to source. I just like to do a bit of research and give people a feel of the place, like they were there.

Not even in the bench, apparently. That's too bad.

The opening exchanges suggest there certainly are goals in this.
