With the box office coming in lower than more recently expected, and not even hitting 80 million, should Marvel "Ragnorok" Ant Man?
Remember, Thor had box office trouble being able to make huge numbers like the rest, that was until they threw Hulk in part 3. Not sure which character they could toss into it, but I can see it happening.

That seems more with realistic expectations, even $85 million never mind up to $95 million seemed a bit too far fetched.
Scaled back down to $76 million...it's still a surprising amount. It's a good chunk more than the last one and some of us here were saying there wasn't much hype.
I wouldn't have been surprised if this opened lower than the last one.

Those are the estimates. Time will tell if the actual are bigger than that.

Its budget is around $150-170 M so not bad at all. The $76M is in line with the early buzz for the film before the tracking went higher.

I never seen a Marvel OW Boxoffice revised down, usually it goes up. WOM mixed? Yep, WOM must be pretty bad for it to go down like this. The Friday to Saturday drop was 30%. Not surprising since it's not a good movie.

I love when a new movie comes out. Especially if their are strong fandoms for or against. You really get to see that numbers/statistics can be massaged and manipulated to which ever end. It's a pretty good glimpse in side the human animal.

Not just optimism vs pessimism. Yes numbers are numbers, but how those numbers are framed and presented is very important.

What kind of multiplier are you guys expecting. Lower than Ultron (2.4x) around Ant-Man (3.15x) or somewhere in the middle Spiderman Homecoming (2.86x)

Spider-man Homecoming had a surprisingly good multiplier, I can't see it reaching that, it's also a sequel and they tend to be frontloaded.
It might be enough to reach $200 million.

I agree, the Guardians of the Galaxy style helped it too. The point is Thor was nothing until they went in a different direction. Not even the Avnegers movie could help it. Same is happening with Ant Man. And the studio has a history of changing things in order to get more money.
