For me it is an age range, when I left home and got a new gang of friends, the movies we saw during those years.
Long ago now: 1975-1985 for me. Many titles from that era give me intense nostalgia.

A Hard Day's Night depicts 1964 youth culture pretty well.

Batman doing his best Ozymandias there.

I was born late 1979 so for me when I think of nostalgia it's pretty much going to be movies from the 1980's and 1990's for the most part even though I imagine there might be a little into the 1970's.
but to list one movie from the 1990's I get nostalgia from is Mortal Kombat (1995) (which I seen opening day with my cousin on Aug 18th 1995. which was about a couple months shy of my 16th b-day and he's 2 years and change younger then myself) because that movie also brings up nostalgia with my cousin on the video games (mainly MK2/MK3/UMK3 in the arcades back in the 1994-1996 time frame generally) etc. but in all honesty... that Mortal Kombat (1995) movie barely holds up for me lately and I think it's the nostalgia keeping it afloat.
p.s. but I prefer the decades like this overall in general... 1)2000's 2)1990's 3)2010's 4)1980's 5)1960's 6)1970's. after those six decades things drop off a cliff. that was well thought out for me although the 1990's and 2010's are closest to flip-flopping with each other even though currently I do give the 1990's the edge because while the 2010's has a higher volume of My Favorite Movies (2010's have 48 movies vs 1990's 38 movies), the 1990's has a bigger portion of my more elite movies which is enough to compensate for the difference in total movies that the 2010's has over the 1990's. still, it's possible the 2010's could overtake the 1990's for me as we still got about a 1-2 years left but unless I get a decent boost to the total of 7/10's or higher or a fair amount more 7.5-8/10's or higher, chances are the 1990's will remain ahead of the 2010's by a bit.

Mostly just movies I watched a lot while growing up. I watched a lot of these with my late grandmother (who lived with us in those days), so that adds an extra layer of poignancy for me.
Examples:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1-3 Batman Batman Returns Back to the Future movies Aladdin An American Tail: Fievel Goes West Star Trek movies
...among others.

Likely more a nostalgia for the filmgoing experience around this time in general: Suture Cemetery Man Love and Human Remains I dunno why, but I never heard of those. They're mid-1990s indie and foreign films I watched in small theaters (as opposed to multiplexes) in a college town.
