Russell Knox who was a rising star a couple of years ago on the USPGA and then disappeared up his own arse, managing to piss off Darren Clarke, the captain of the Euro Ryder Cup team by ignoring Darren's advice to play a few tournaments in Europe if he had ambitions to get into that year's team. He then fell out with Scottish Golf by choosing an unknown pal, Duncan Stewart to team up with him to represent Scotland in the World Cup ahead of others of the calbre of Stephen Gallacher, Scott Jamieson, Marc Warren, etc. Stewart wasn't good enough to play on the European Tour but he was a pal from way back when Knox lived in Inverness. Today Knox showed what he's about by winning the Irish Open in a play-off in spectacular style. He hold a 40/50 footer on the 18th green to make the play-off and then did it again from virtually the same spot to win. He's a very tenacious gutsy golfer and what a time to find your best form with the Scottish Open and then The Open being played in the next couple of weeks. Well done Russell.
