Personally, I've always accepted the fact that - in Australia at least - the voting public elects the governing political party, but the political party elects its leader. I've also always accepted that the political party is free to change its leader anytime a majority of it members wish to do so.
However, I also understand how this may upset members of the voting public, as they consider it to be their duty to vote a prime minister in or out of office - along with his or her political party.
I just feel that unless there is a major scandal, or something illicit was done that contravenes the trust in the law that is so righteously upheld by those in power, I personally feel that leadership change based on the majority of members in the party only weakens their own standing. It is ultimately for themselves, in a desperate attempt to get elected back into office, not for the people. If they make it our duty to vote, then they need to make it their duty to lead for the term based on the votes.
But yes, what they choose to do can only be accepted, because what other choice is there? In general, I agree and sympathize with your point of view.
However, if it's any consolation, we've seen what happens to political parties in this country when they chop and change their leaders too often.

Dude, Hollywood, San Francisco, California is the mecca for bizarre sex. You're in the Outback, right? I don't know if he is, but I am...
Or at least I can see it from where I live.
And you wouldn't believe the weird shit we get up to in the bush.
I think gamey was being tongue in cheek when he said outback, due to the perception of foreigners about OZ.
I doubt the weird s<>t that goes on in the Australian bush would be anymore weirder than what goes on in the US redneck sticks.

Just less squealing...
"Hey Skip? What's that? Sonny's fallen down the well near the old tin mine? How the fuck did he manage that? What do you mean you pushed him? He did what? He asked if he could borrow one of your vaginas?! The dirty, horny little bastard!"

I am not a coalition supporter, but I can see what they have done to themselves here and it appears that they have just handed over the reigns to labor.
The coalition also need a name change. Calling themselves liberals is confusing when they are right leaning not left. That is their first deceit, it didn't show much foresight and they are only liberal with themselves.

At least that would be slightly more honest.
Failing that, they could always call themselves the Lying, Dishonest, Backstabbing Bastards, although Labor might also be considering that name change.

Lets put it this way, I am considering voting for one of the lessor parties as a protest vote, and if more people do that, then those parties that are supposed to hold good stead will have to take a good long look at themselves.
The right wing Liberal\National party is a joke anyway. The only chance they had at winning an election was by forming a coalition. Yes, the Conservative Pride Party - CPP, or something similar would be more suitable and at least gives a clearer picture of what political spectrum they will represent.

I've been making protest votes in state and federal elections for nearly two decades now.
I'm pretty much disenfranchised with the major parties.
However, I still stay on the left with my choices.

I can see this happening more and more now and based on comments others have made to me. We can see the division, with the close to hung parliaments throughout the States and in federal sitting. There is some serious over-haul that is going to have to happen as the flaws in the current parliament electorial system are becoming more and more apparent.
The majority of people are not right leaning anyway and clowns like Abbot for example who take more hard line right wing policy stances, are just not what the majority of decent and conscientious citizens are wanting to buy into. It is a game amongst themselves and out of touch.

I know we Californians haven't cornered the market on weird sex. I'm joking because it's the stereotype. More bizarre shit goes on in Kentucky and Kansas than here.
