Every time I hear Orphan, all I can think of is Oliver Twist.
Or the Venture Bros.
Now if Orphans secret lair was called the Orphanage it would put me in mind of Spanish horror.

I usually think of 'Orphan Black' which was one of my favourite shows of the past decade and the Horror movie, 'Orphan' which had one of the most surprising endings I have seen in a movie in recent times. I love Tatiana Maslany and think she would be great playing the role of a superhero or the lead in a comic book movie. Tatiana is very underrated and underused as an actress.

By the way, I keep forgetting to ask you, are you still watching 'Lost Girl' and what do you think of it so far? I loved it. It did go down a bit in quality towards the end but a lot of shows sadly do and I was a big fan of Bo and I don't know what it was about her but I found her to be so incredibly sexy. I love how they made her bad ass and she slept with multiple men and women throughout the show and there was no stigma attached to it like some other shows have done with female characters.

I finished Lost Girl a couple of months back. Good show, though I didn't think the last season was as good as earlier ones.

'Lost Girl' was an awesome show and is still one of my favourites to watch. The showrunner of 'Lost Girl' (Emily Andras) is now the showrunner of 'Wynonna Earp' and the actress who played Lauren went on to play Android in 'Dark Matter.' I have seen a lot of the actors from 'Lost Girl' turning up in other Canadian TV shows lately but it is a shame we don't see Anna Silk in anything anymore and after 'Lost Girl' she appeared to have quit her acting career.

Wow. I did not know that. Makes you think there was some ugliness behind the scenes that soured her on acting.

Wow. I did not know that. Makes you think there was some ugliness behind the scenes that soured her on acting. Yeah. Either that or when she became a Mother she decided to quit acting altogether but she said when she got pregnant she was going to have some time off acting and return and that was a while ago now and she is appearing at fan conventions now and has told people she is looking to make her return to acting now but it looks like they don't want to cast her in anything anymore. I am not sure but there are a lot of actresses that get to the age of 35 and then they struggle to get roles in anything and we have talked about this before and it is part of the ageism in the industry. Even though the things are changing and are getting better sexism is still prevalent in the industry and homophobia is too and Diora Baird was getting heaps of roles in movies when they thought she was hetero but when she came out as a lesbian she got blacklisted by Hollywood.

Ah. Hopefully it was just motherhood and not something darker. Glad she's city the con circuit. Yeah Hollywood likes to preten it's progressive, but it's really not. It's pretty ugly and nasty.

Seems more like a case of her career got pt on the back burner because she had a kid and she wasn't/isn't established enough to be able to jump back in where she was when she left, which isn't just a thing women have to deal with, but sadly is unfairly stacked against them because you know if a male actor and his wife/GF decide to have a kid the guy isn't the one being pregnant, he's not the one whose roles get limited due to their body changing vastly, and then you have women getting the stigma for wanting to have a career and a child and having it held against them if they get pregnant and it messes up a film or show they are doing.
I can see how her coming out could limit her options not out of homophobia in the malicious sense just the ignorance and stupidity part, because I can see people thinking well she's openly a lesbian she cant play a straight woman now, all the while Neil Patrick Harris spent the better part of the last decade playing a womanising man whore and he was openly gay for a lot if not all of it, then again could be she's aged out of her spot as the young hottie now she's in her 30's and a mother, just give it another 5 years though and she'll age into sexy cougar and maybe get a career resurgence.
As for Silk could be a case of being picky about her jobs if she wants to spend time with her kids, she only had her last 1 2 years ago, I know a lot of people who they have one kid and they plan to work but then when thye have two decide to become stay at home moms until the kid goes too school, but according to here Wiki she's got a new role lined up now, so you'll be seeing her more in the next year.

I remember Dora saying it in an interview last year. She was talking about how she turned down a lot of roles in movies and shows where she would have only been doing nude scenes along with several porn companies who were making her multiple offers ‘cause she was tired of playing those roles and wanted roles with more substance but she said it wasn’t until she came out as a lesbian she stopped getting offered roles and at the time she hadn’t been offered anything in months. I think having kids could have played a role in her getting less’ roles too but there have been other actresses who have come out in the past that have been blacklisted by Hollywood and actors and actress have said they know actresses who are afraid of coming out and take beards with them to award shows ‘cause they are afraid it could destroy their careers.
There was also a male actor who came out last year that said he was made to sign all this paperwork saying he wouldn’t reveal his sexuality to the public while he was acting in certain movies and shows ‘cause the companies didn’t want him being gay giving their movie or TV show a bad name and other actors and actresses backed them up and said about having to sign similar contracts and it is beyond a joke actors are having to sign things like that in this decade. I don’t know if you have heard of Chely Wright but she was one of the biggest Country Music singers in the 90s and 00s and she had multiple hits out but when she came out she was dropped from her record label even though her most recent album at the time went pretty good on the charts and she had to turn to fan funding to release her 2016 album, ‘I Am the Rain’ and while it is known a lot of female Country Music singers struggle more than male Country Music singers in America her coming out lead to her career never being the same.
Thanks for letting me know about Anna Silk. It is great to hear she is returning in a new show and if we get it here I will be sure to check it out.

Yeah that's all really stupid, I mean seriously the negative impact of knuckle draggers no longer supporting something or someone if they are gay or lesbian or whatever should be negligible at this point, not to mention offset by the potential new fans that can be earned by doing so.
I would think it would be the vocal people who have to sign stuff like Brie Larson whose opinionated and forthrightness on social media as well as a fair amount of antagonism that can rile up and sour fans are the ones who would have to sign stuff saying they wont do this or that, I mean really who cares what or who people do in their bedroom so long as it's amongst consenting adults?
If Baird really has been kind of blackballed I feel bad for her, it's not fair because if it all comes down to her being gay or straight that's bullshit, she has the same to offer as she did before, whether people think that's worth something or not god knows, but I can get why people would be hesitant to come out even if not for being persecuted but because of the myopic thinking of Hollywood at times, so where unless you are an established star coming out can limit you as I said before because Hollywood be dumb even if they aren't always malicious.
Though back to Baird could be because she came out or could be because she's been mostly inactive for 5 years, is mid 30's, still relatively unknown, I mean when your claim to fame is a guest spot on Shameless 5 years ago it means you don't have that much cache going for you really, plus repeatedly turning down the offers you were getting openly wanting more serious roles when you may never have proven yourself capable of that, there are more than just her coming out that probably amounted to a slow down of offers, imo to think it's just the one thing is silly, but so is to think it had nothing to do with anything.
Sad thing is how Hollywood is uneven, you can take 2 actors, or actresses of equal talent, charisma and attractiveness, the same level of it factor and the same racial, sexual and religious categorisation and on a whim one can get all the breaks in the world for no actual reason, whilst the other gets no breaks at all, which is what makes someo f this stuff so odd, like their will be people who get typecast or even bricked out because they are gay or lesbian or what have you but then you get others who are those thing getting roles and offers for things they have no business in getting, I think it's the selective homophobia or racism or whatever else that can really be annoying at times, especially when it appears to be utterly random.

The problem with these kinds of people is they only want to hate and they don’t just turn on actor or actress if they come out – they will turn on them for playing an LGBT character or for saying they are a supporter of LGBT rights or have a friend or family member who is LGBT and that exactly happened to Carrie Underwood a few years ago when she openly supported same sex marriage, said she was a supporter of LGBT rights and was friendly to a lesbian couple at one of her concerts in America and it set a lot of homophobes off and they were writing horrible things on comment sections and with her latest song, ‘Love Wins’ being hailed as an LGBT anthem they will most likely go off again. They hate people supporting us but they especially hate high profile people and celebrities supporting us ‘cause they have influence over other people.
Those are the type of fans the people are thinking about when they make celebrities sign them deals and they are worried about the reaction they are going to get from homophobes ‘cause they think it is going to affect the sales of the movies or the ratings of the TV shows they appear in and that is slowly becoming a thing of the past now and we are seeing more and more actors and actresses no longer hiding their sexuality but there are still some backwards people working in Hollywood that have power and say and this is why it has taken so long to see more LGBT characters in mainstream movies. Every time there is talk of a Disney movie having a LGBT character in a major role you have homophobes using Middle Eastern countries as a reason not to have them claiming that they will lose a lot of money from them if they include a gay character when they could care less about them any other time. I think when it comes to Dora age is her biggest problem and despite the records the newest 'Halloween' movie has shattered including being the biggest box office hit to have a female lead over 50 ageism is still really bad in Hollywood and many actresses struggle to get roles when they are over the age of 35 and they will often pair male actors in their 40s and 50s with actresses in their 20s over actress their own age or even close to their age.
Ageism shouldn't be such a problem in 2018.

Fuck them Feral bogans and pecan eating stooges. Carrie is a Goddess standing up to them and they could only dream of having the success she has had. Does she know those people writing the comments are wearing the same shirts they were wearing 2 weeks ago with Tuesday night's dinner on them? There'd be brown stains in those undies, holes in their socks and wet spots on their beds from when they are dreaming about their Mums and sisters. They can fuck off back to boganville.
