That is, after Disney bought Marvel on December 31, 2009 have there been any films where the main villain is a female?

Ghost is also arguably the main antagonist in AM&TW but she's really more of a tragic villain than outright malicious.

We need more of them, for white male villains are a thing of the past. At least for me, it feels too old-fashioned for my tastes.

You must not think Darth Vader is a villain if you're trying to go by your definition of what a villain is

I hate to agree with DC-Fan, but comparing Darth Vader to Ghost is beyond ridiculous imo. It's not so much that I'm comparing the two in terms of what they've done, but the kind of villains they are. Thanos kills billions of people with the gauntlet, yet DC-Fan doesn't think he's a real villain because of his tragic motives (including killing Gamora). In a nutshell, Darth Vader is a perfect example of a tragic villain who doesn't necessarily enjoy or want to do what he does since he was manipulated in the first place into joining the dark side.

Darth Vader IS manipulated but he is still evil. I have never felt much sympathy for Darth Vader. Thanos's POV can even be defended. He believes he is saving all life from extinction.

I didn't say Thanos isn't a real villain. I said Thanos isn't a great villain because he showed mercy (to Tony Stark) and had remorse (for killing Gamora). Great villains don't show mercy or have remorse.

The problem with Ghost is that besides the neat physical element, she is generic.

A great villain should enjoy being evil.
The greatest villains from the Wicked Witch to Noah Cross to Skeletor had no remorse or doubts.
Who wants to watch weak characters in a movie?
It's supposed to be an adventure, not an AA meeting.

Might as well make them a rapist as well, right because that's a truly evil villain? Is that what you want?

That's just one type of a great villain. Hell... Some of the great villains see themselves as the good guy.

A great villain should enjoy being evil. Those villains are awesome, but I love villains with some humanity to them equally as much.
