RoboCop hasn't been good since 1987 and Blomkamp quickly fizzed out after District 9.

I wouldn't buy that for a dollar.

Didn't that 2014 remake flop/underperform though?

Didn't that 2014 remake flop/underperform though? This will be another reboot. I'm assuming Sharlto Copley will be the head of OCP now.

Let's hope this will be some hard-R content then, unlike the strangely tame 2014 film. Also, I was hoping this would be a sequel or some continuation to the original by the title. Oh well.

It's... fine. I really have a hard time getting worked up over this. He can't make a worse RoboCop sequel than the ones already in existence.
Verhoeven's classic will always be in a league of its own.

If Blokamp's directing, that means it will suck unless it's a short.

If someone like Drew Goddard or John Logan was attached as writer (not them specifically but someone in that vein) maybe it'd have a shot.

District 9 was excellent and surprisingly violent, so this could work.

I hated the remake. I hope this is more like the original.

The movie is called Robocop returns or something like that I heard. Also I was one of the few who liked the remake. I didn’t see it as a remake, but just a movie inspired by Robocop.

Not nearly as exciting as when he was supposed to direct Alien 3ish. I've only seen District 9, but I don't think his style really fits RoboCop. He has the violence and the social commentary, but not really the comedy.
And I'd wager it'll be a sequel with Peter Weller that probably ignores the sequels, considering that's what he wanted to do with his Aliens follow up.
