It can be any type of food, and any type of food service. Restaurant, cafe, hot dog stand, food truck, anything!
I would want a tea/coffee place that specialized in pie made with fresh fruit. There is none in my area, it is either doughnuts or muffins. Also I would want to have birthday parties there where it would be an Alice in wonderland style tea party.
So what would be yours?

Probably something very quirky/eclectic, some "fusion" type restaurant, catering to sit-down customers, quirky decoration, etc. But with take-out, too.
Also, I'd just own it and be the idea guy. I'd not be cooking at all or working there regularly in any capacity. I can't cook, I don't have any desire to learn, really, and I don't have any desire to work in a restaurant.

First off thanks for replying to my threads. And yeah I wouldn't wanna work at a food place either this is just more a fantasy thing. More like what you said an idea thing. Offline people have told me of a food place they would want to open up. I always thought it was interesting, so now this is one of my go to questions.

My wife would love to open a restaurant, and she loves to cook. ;-)

I, too, would have a "tea room," but I'd base it on the British Tea tradition. I envision a tea room that I visited in Bath, on a trip to England, a few years ago. I'd offer cakes and tarts, for a sweet Tea, and "finger sandwiches," for a savory Tea. Along with a variety of teas (or coffee), there would be a few wines/sparkling wines for order. Customers would be able to order a "catered" variety of items, should they want to host a "Tea" themed party, or shower, in their home. (I don't know if local ordinances would allow me to include the wines in the take-out. That's probably a no-no.) Hours would be limited ... from early afternoon, to early evening. (Fun topic - )

Homemade soups and breads, Not just the run of the mill soups but ethnic soups like hot beet soup made with sour cream (No tomato soup in it) or a thick vegetable soup, egg/lemon soup etc. I also would have bread like Lithuanian bacon buns, Easter bread, rye breads etc. It of course would be mostly fattening fare and very satisfying to those of us who grew up with ethnic cooking.

I would open up a small Arabic themed cooking place. I can't cook so I would just be the owner and general manager of the place. I would sell traditional meals served with flat bread, such as hummus, baba ghanouj, fool and mutabbil. I would have salads such as fatoush and taboolah. I would also serve sandwiches such as falafel, shawerma and hummus/fool. There would be mishawi, which are grilled meats or chicken with grilled tomatoes, bell tomatoes and onions. . For dessert I would have basboosa, kanafa, Om Ali. I would have traditional drinks: pomegranate juice, for example, and Arabic coffee and tea

I am a massive fan of Thai cuisine. I believe Thai cuisine to be a melting pot of Chinese and Indian cuisines. They use perfect combination of herbs and spices. The coconut milk or cream brings a certain softness in the taste of their curries. Kaffir lime leaves also imparts a great flavour to Thai foods.
So if I had a restaurant of my own then it would be either Thai cuisine restaurant or a multi-cuisine restaurant.

I would love to run a small Fish & Chips place, with a limited selection of items on the menu. I'd concentrate on quality over variety. So I'd limit it to just really good batches of crispy, deep-fried fish and chips, lemon wedge, cole slaw as an optional side dish. Order options would be simple: small, medium or large. I'd have really good tartar sauce and ketchup, plus salt and vinegar, and minimal beverages (water, coffee, ice tea, Coke and Sprite).
