It seems like they cough purely for the sake of being obnoxious and annoying. Coughing should be rare. I can't remember the last time I legitimately required to cough. Are these people being obnoxious jerks on purpose or are they ridden with disease? Thoughts? Well, for starters, what is wrong with you? Great, you again. Another moron. Is this all you do? Go around and randomly ask people what's wrong with them? That seriously seems like the only thing you do on here. Nothing about what you quoted suggests something is wrong with me. So STFU and go get a life, loser. Come back when you actually have something to contribute to the discussion.

Since it is generally agreed that no one actually enjoys coughing OR for that matter, throat clearing ) what seems to the casual bystander to be "for no reason" is probably / possibly / most likely for some actual medical reason whether it stems from physical or psychological origins.

Lets cut to the chase on this, Roberto...
Is there someone in your orbit who coughs a lot and its gotten to the point that it annoys you? That's what I think this is. Why not try to talk to that person and find out what's going on? You might realize that he/she is not even aware how offensive they're being. They might even change their behavior after you inquire. If I were you I would inquire in such a way such as to suggest concern for them. Take into consideration that they might have a legitimate problem.
But if you're not having a specific problem, and are just making a general observation about people who cough, and are assuming that they're, how did you put it? "...being obnoxious, annoying jerks on purpose or are ridden with disease?" then I would suggest at least pretending to be mature about it.
Good luck!

Sometimes it's tourette syndrome. I worked with a guy who had it. Coughing, hacking then clearing his throat. It would seem that he had maybe a congestive issue. But when he wasn't coughing or clearing his throat, he was making weird religious based exclamations about something he read. Or yawning loudly. Or stretching and making a big sigh. Or making the loudest most exaggerated sneeze anyone could. It was literally something every 30 seconds. Crazy part was, he was a professional voice-over talent for documentaries and translated pieces. He would go in the booth and do 3 hours of voice-over without one issue. Then come out and just make up for it with a barrage of noises. Great guy, great voice: but damn his decibel output was unreal. Interesting. That sounds exhausting. Both being him or someone near him. I did consider that maybe the people I've encountered had tourette's. But it's unlikely all of them do. LOL. It was exhausting. I sat next to him for a period of time. The guy had this booming voice with a deep bass tone. And when he sneezed it was so loud that you could here metal beams behind the walls vibrating. It was unreal. And unfortunately I had been on the phone with people who thought all of the noises were coming from me - while I was talking to them. Some of the people were offended that I would be on the phone with them, and hacking and coughing into the phone. I had to very quietly tell them "It isn't me coughing, it is the guy next to me". I didn't want him to hear, because maybe he would think I was pulling some stunt to make it obvious to him that he is being loud. I just wanted to avoid confronting him about it, and just work on finding a new seat.

Post nasal drip. Allergies. Asthma. Bronchitis. Sinus pressure and infections. Pulmonary ailments. Some are just too stubborn to go to a doctor. I worked with one of these guys. Hacking the entire morning! Since he and I have the same job I knew insurance wasn't a problem. ^This. I have allergies and constantly get nasal drip and sinus infections all the time and sometimes bronchitis. Although I do go to the doctor each time (sometimes I have to go back 2 maybe 3 times after I finish each Rx of antibiotics for an additional refill). It's the most annoying thing, coughing all day to the point where I can't finish a sentence without hacking up a damn lung.

That's a good way to put it. But I'm talking about the idiot Caesar Roberto, OP of this thread. Well, I disagree. I think it is a good question obviously inspired by personal experience. Remind me to go to the movies with you and start hacking up a lung. Then you will find true annoyances.
