In my personal opinion yes. I just watched clips of Muppets take the o2 and it had David Tennant reprising his role as the 10th Doctor to do a skit with the Muppets. It was wonderful to watch and i’ve always said Tennant would have been wonderful in a Muppets movie.
Well people chose to not go see Muppets:Most Wanted because either A. It did not have Jason Segal or B. Segal’s “Muppet” movie focuses way too much on the humans to the point it should have been called The Humans special guest stars the Muppets.
Here was my problem with the Segal movie. No matter how you look at it,it was not a Muppets movie. It was a movie about some guy and a Muppet for a brother (what the fuck?) did they care to explain that I don’t remember. The Muppets were side characters IN A FREAKING MUPPET MOVIE!!! The movie had the humans basically reintroducing The Muppets when there was no need for them to be reintroduced. The Muppets were already household names. You’d have to be living under a rock to not know who the Muppets are. Also if they wanted to reintroduce the Muppets then let The Muppets themselves tell the story for us.
Muppets Most Wanted fixed a lot of the issues I had with the Segal one. The humans were the side characters and The Muppets were front and center throughout the movie. The jokes were a lot better in Most Wanted and the story while it did have one big problem the muppets are not that dumb to not believe that Constantin was not Kermit so that may have just been bad writing, but it felt like a real muppet story and it helped the movie. I also never cared for Walter and thought he was a really unnecessary addition to the Muppets so I was glad they pushed him to the side.
I think Segal’s movie hurt The Muppets movie franchise in a way they could never come back as a movie. Audiences voted with their wallets to not go see Most Wanted. The Muppets tried to come back as a mockumentary show similar to The Office, but parents complained that the Muppets were too adult in the new show and it wasn’t suitable for kids which was just bullshit. Didn’t they watch The Muppet show?
So sadly my hopes of a 3rd movie and a possible Tennant cameo were crushed and a 3rd movie will most likely never happen?
Does anyone else agree?

No. It didn't. The clever marketing campaign and the good use of nostalgia made The Muppets a success with audiences. As for Jason Segal and Walter, their characters are supposed to represent us, Muppet fans.
Muppets Most Wanted didn't do well because it was released in direct competition with Divergent. Maybe, if it was released during the holiday season, it would have done better.
As for the TV series, I actually think it was one of the best things that ever happened to the franchise. It finally got the adult humor the Muppets were known for in their heyday, but the purity of the characters wasn't there. I honestly think they should have gave the show more time to find its voice.

The movies were fine, I didn't appreciate them breaking up Kermie and Piggy on the failed sitcom. You don't mess with an iconic couple like that.

Personally, I thought the storyline to The Muppets was inspired. Easily the funniest Muppet movie to date with plenty of heart to boot. Only Muppet Christmas Carol ranks higher in my estimation.
By contrast, Muppets Most Wanted was a poor sequel devoid of genuine humour and lacking the warmth of the 2011 film.
Just my personal opinion.

I’m glad so many of you enjoyed Segal’s Muppet movie, but my opinion of it still stands. It was not what people paid to see. They paid to see the Muppets and they were made into side characters which is insulting. If Segal was really a fan of the Muppets he should have been the side character. It’d be like making a Spider-Man movie, but having the movie focus on Mary Jane and Spider-Man is nothing more than a side character who gets maybe 10 minutes of screen time.
Also with Most Wanted,I doubt people were actually flicking to see Divergent. I think Muppets just left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.
Also yeah the Tv show was not bad,I stopped watching it though when Ed Helms because it was a really obnoxious episode. I also don’t think it sat well with anyone since it was nothing like the Muppet Show.

What do you mean a third movie? There have been eight of them.

I don't think so, I think it did well enough because there was a nostalgia boom, and when the second one rolled around people already had their fill.
