If I can understand what someone is trying to communicate it doesn't matter much to me when it comes to a message board setting. But it probably helps to use proper spelling and grammar if you're hoping a point you're trying to make will be taken seriously.

It's like watching a poorly dubbed Godzilla movie.

Personally I don't really care that much as long as I understand what the person is saying and in this regard chances are the vast majority will be fine. that's FAR more important then having perfect spelling etc. some people give too much weight to proper spelling etc but I am more interested in what the person has to say than that stuff. but with that said... your spelling etc has to be up to a certain point because if you can't understand what they person is saying then that's obviously a problem. p.s. come to think of it... I have likely improved a little over the years around these forums as I think it's starting to finally stick in my head with the 'where' and 'were' thing which I often got mixed up (even though I am sure the person reading my posts could easily understand what I meant). even the 'their' 'there' I might mix up a little, but I think I pretty much got that sorted but the whole "You're" 'your' etc I doubt I got that sorted as I pretty much always type 'your' and never "you're". so stuff like that I can still mix up but it's not that big of a deal as it's not like it's suddenly going to make what I say hard to understand. klsI see how some might be tempted to look down on someone who might have bad spelling/grammar etc but I couldn't care less as long as what the person is saying is solid and makes a good point etc as that's far more important vs the petty stuff. like some people might be fairly intelligent but never really cared all that much about school etc but they are up to a certain point that people have no trouble understanding what they type. because peoples minds can usually auto-figure out what someone said unless they are pretty bad at spelling etc.

fwiw .. it's only occasionally I remember that English is not your first language so no .. not annoying.
What is annoying is those whose first language IS English, claim to be highly educated and yet rant about people who lack writing/speaking skills and themselves post using mainly certain "four letter words" and twitter abbreviations.

The only thing that annoys me is people complaining about and "correcting" spelling and grammar. As long as I can figure out what someone is saying I'm cool with it. If I can't figure it out, I'll just ask questions so that hopefully I can figure it out.

Well there are others on this site that have even worse grammar and spelling, so I would have to say no.
Plus, it isn't even a necessity for having good English skills to post. People just do it with no hesitation.

English is your second language so any grammar rule you've broken is forgiven. Native English-speakers don't have that excuse.
