This upcoming week, Christopher Nolan's second Batman movie is already 10 years old. The hype was something else and it didn't disappoint. Having watched the shit out of it summer 2008, I gave a it recent rewatch. For better or worse, dark and gritty became the modus operandi for many comic book films to follow. That really doesn't mean much unless you have a decent story to tell. The release of Batman v Superman two years ago just made me appreciate this film even more. It is perfect? Of course not. Joker's back up plans having their own back up plans is a bit silly but the movie remains largely satisfying in what's an excellent film trilogy overall. Perhaps the worst thing to come out of this film was the Nolan fanboy, steadfast in their resolve to meet any criticism of their Lord and Savior with devastation and ruin.

An ugly looking 2hr 30 minute tv cop show that spawned the most vile fandom to ever soil IMDB. Good riddance to this movie, it's fandom and to Brokeback Joker. Yeah, I said it, come at me bro!

I watched it once 8-9 years ago. Did not think it was that fantastic. At least not as great as so many people said it was. It was really just an ok movie.

I still think Batman Begins was the best of the trilogy.

I love every minute of it. I see where it can turn some people off, but it feels like the movie of the 21st Century so far.

What's up with the resurgence of hipsters on here lately? Go to the FG subreddit if you want to be hipsters.
One of the greatest films of all times. 👍

I still remember going to a late showing opening night. When the lights went down and the movie started with that cloudy Bat signal and no audio, you could hear a pin drop the theater was so silent and ready for what was about to hit them. To this day, one of the most satisfying theater experiences of my life.

one of the best movie of the 21st century with flaws. Lots of well written scenes and moments and a great performance from the late heath ledger. Majority of people loves it for a reason. It opened the gate for lots of new batman franchise. I wish nolan decides to make one more batman film but i know he is done with it just like Breaking bad which ended when it had too but still fans like us are praying to see more of it.

Still one of my favorite theater experiences. The audience I saw it with was a well behaved crowd and we was all having a blast.

Saw it opening night in a PACKED theater & the audience was really into it & even erupted into a huge applause at the very end. I can honestly say I've never had that happen to me before (gave me goosebumps! haha) Its a masterpiece plain & simple (not even in terms of comic book films but as a purely cinematic experience . ) Nolan nailed it out of the park . 10/10

A+ my #30 all time.
For a post 9/11 film about the fearful 00's, it sure does age above & beyond that. Thankfully because the 00's kinda sucked.

Opening night for that was a raucous crowd, but all stfu as the plane carrying Bane split to pieces before our eyes.

The people saying it's 'overrated' are comparing it to "Casablanca" or "The Godfather" or "Lawrence of Arabia".
In that aspect, yes, it's not on that AFI top 100 films level.
However, if you are comparing it to "Summer Blockbusters" it's the best of it's kind. It doesn't get any better than this. Talk about taking a subject like a man dressing as a bat, fighting crime against mentally ill villains and the mob, and turning into this.
This is essentially the Godfather of Summer Blockbusters. Speilberg made summer blockbusters what they were with JAWS, E.T., Jurassic Park and so on. Then they went to shite from about 1996-2004.
This was the first summer blockbuster I could remember since my childhood that felt like a 'big deal' and not a generic shoot em up with jokes, one liners, tons of explosions, and bad acting.

I still think Batman Begins was the best of the trilogy. I go back and forth on that all the time. BB had a better overall story arc while TDK was a more intense dramatic experience.
