The 27 year old has died suddenly just a day or so after captaining his lads to a four-nothing victory over Drogheda in the Irish Premier League. linkAfter a handful of games in the new Premier League season, Derry (P4 Pts 12) sits second behind Cork (P5 Pts 15) having played a game less.

Yes, I heard about this on the news this morning. Very sad. RIP. Yes, Captain. Reading through a bit of his history, I see that the team he made his Derry senior debut against in 2011 was Drogheda, the very team he played against on Saturday.

Looks like it may have been an undiagnosed heart problem. Poor bloke.

McGuinness and McBride's funerals being at the same time must have been a real Sophie's Choice for McClean.

Hopefully McClean puts in a Bale like performance for his mates.
