She’s fine. The movies in general leave a lot to be desired tho. Could have been 2 films and been just as thrilling. I was OK with 3 movies. They should have just been shorter. I totally bought the camaraderie and I think the setup in the beginning of the first film went a long way to legitimizing it. Tolkien really wrote the battle as an afterthought which would have been a travesty in these blockbuster days and I was actually happy with the way it turned out. The deaths had some emotional heft too. I loved the added stuff of Sauron although it lessened the surprise of his return in LOTR. The romance stretching across two movies was annoying as was Smaug's dialogue. I hated that they made Smaug a cliffhanger. It should have all ended in the second movie. Otherwise, I think The Hobbit is one of the better made action films that had the misfortune of following a, imo, perfect trilogy.

CoolJGS☺I think if Desolation had actually ended with the death of Smaug I would have a higher opinion on the series as a whole. The second film feels far too much like filler without something to hang your hat on in the end. There was still the whole battle for the mountain afterward. The Lord of the Rings suffers from similar decisions imo. If it had gone with the details in the book...specifically the Shelob stuff...in the second film instead of putting ALL the big stuff off until Return then I'd probably have a higher opinion of that series as well. As it stand the Two Tower was my favorite book in the trilogy but least favorite film.

I didn't mind the character but could have lived without the love story they gave her. Also, that orgasm face she had in the healing scene is unintentionally hilarious.
