To those who read the comics, is the trailer tone consistent with it?

Kinda, sorta, but not really.

Kinda, sorta, but not really. Basically. I mean, I can see touches of what I've seen in various incarnations of the team, but at the same time, the first thing I thought of when watching this was that it was trying too hard to be dark and edgy.

Dick has been upset with batman and left him to find his own identity. But he has never expressed his desire in such a crude manner.

It is kinda different looking than what I expected but I don't think it looks as bad as some other people are making out it does and am willing to give it a chance 'cause there have been other shows and movies I have seen with bad trailers that I have ended up really liking and the rest test will be the real test. I have to laugh at the people who are complaining it is not like 'Teen Titans Go' 'cause they are the same ones who hated on 'Teen Titans Go' for being too light and childish which was their exact words and then we have people complaining about Raven being too dark. I mean really? Raven is a Horror superhero. Have they not read 'Raven: Daughter of Darkness?' It is a Horror series written by her creator, Marv Wolfman and the 'Titans' comic books that focus on Raven go into Horror. My only problem with Raven is I feel they made her too young which I have mentioned on here before.

Wait you mean to tell me the character which s the daughter of a demon and loose fitting satan stand in who in atleast some if not all versions of the character was born in part to act as a key to allow said demon into the human realm where he would destroy/enslave/murder humanity and turn the world into a hell dimension is going to be a bit dark....fucking idiots. I think it looks cool, I still dislike Starfires look but maybe it will grow on me or it's just the starting off look and it'll change during the show, but otherwise im digging it, plus fuck batman...glad someone else said it as well

Fiction is full of cultists serving an eldritch abomination who wants to eat half of humanity and drive the other half insane. Each and every time they are shocked to learn the nightmarish horror will not spare them.
Just once I want to have a cult leader explain his plan and a lowly follower raises his hand, pointing out all the flaws in this scheme.

I mean the show could work out, we can't judge basd on a 2 minute trailer. BTW, reports say the show will drop all 13 episodes at once.

Fuck? Did Robin say the word fuck in that trailer? Fuck me dead, I never thought I'd see the day where superheroes said fuck in tv shows. It's a brand new day.

I think the problem there are some people just that want everything to be light and comedic and then there are others who just want everything to be dark and dreary and I think both the DCEU and MCU need to find a balance between the two 'cause you have two very different types of audiences and in the DC and Marvel comic books there are light and dark heroes. I, myself would like to see more Horror superheroes and there is a big difference between Horror superhero movies and superhero movies that are dark in tone and you can have Horror superhero movies that are light and comedic and others that are extremely dark. Raven is a Horror superhero and trying to make her light when she has always been a darker type of character would be a mistake. I am personally hoping with Warner Bros saying they are going to make more female superhero movies if 'Wonder Woman 2' is a success we get a 'Raven: Daughter of Darkness' movie with an older Raven 'cause I feel it could work as a movie. I also want to see Zatanna next and her comic books go into Horror too. ' There hasn't been a Marvel Horror superhero movie since the 'Blade' movies and I think Elsa Bloodstone is the perfect one to adapt next and she is similar to Buffy in some ways and I could see her being very popular with Horror fans.
As for the show, I am not making my opinion until I at least see the first episode. Too many people make their opinions about movies and TV shows now long before they come out and I still think Starfire will end up with her proper costume.

I didn't like them making Rogue younger in the 'X-Men' movies either and I say that as an Anna Paquin fan and it might have worked if they had kept the original movies going and had Rogue become more powerful as she got older but we all know what happened to 'X Men' after 'X-Men 3' and I might be one of the few here but I would have liked to have seen one more movie with the original cast before they moved on to a new cast and 'X Men 3' had its problems but that doesn't mean 4 would have been bad too and there are so many movie franchises that have a bad movie or 2 between them and then the next one turns out to be good and become a favourite among fans and they could have introduced Gambit and made it turn out Cyclops was still alive since we never saw him die. I am hoping 'Titans' is good and we get another season with more superheroes.

That could be cool and a way to do higher budget horror but lower budget CBM's because they'll have more of a wider audience being DC and Marvel so they could spend a nice chunk of change on them but far less than they normally for a CBM, so like $30-40m like It maybe push it to $50m, and it just gives you a more varied genre.
I would want a reboot of Blade though first from Marvel, you know use a main name to tentpole that endeavour, but a Raven film would be awesome also from DC.

The negative response to X3 probably forced Fox to make changes. The upcoming Dark Phoenix movie is their second attempt at the Phoenix comics storyline. Hopefully it's good but the rumors are it's problematic too. I don't even know if the Gambit film is still pushing thru as it's been delayed so many times.

Well Fox initially wanted X3 to be the last X-Men movie. The head of Fox at the time hated the franchise and didn't want to make films. He wanted to focus on other superhero properties instead: The Fantastic Four and Daredevil.
It did not end well.

LMFAO that's hilarious to think, I mean seriously who goes "Bah I hate this franchise with it's almost unlimited list of characters who we can take in every conceivable direction and just happens to be out highest grossing CBM franchise, I want to focus on the fantastic four and daredevil, considerably more limited character selection and directional potential, plus much lower box offices", fucking moron.
I mean I get annoyed by DC's hard on for Batman at times but that's because it's a self fulfilling prophecy, all they do is pump out Batman stuff and then crow about well only Batman sells, atleast with X-Men/F4 & stuff they were doing other films than just X-Men, but X-Men were topping their competition, atleast there they tried but failed with other ip's atleast, but makes no sense to actively want to shelve your highest CBM property just because me I don't like it, twat..

Yeah he didn't remain at Fox long after that. The shareholders voted him out and the studio quickly brought back Bryan Singer to reboot the X-Men.

You're right and I have suggested this before on another thread but perhaps DC should let New Line Cinema handle their Horror titles 'cause they have had a lot of success over the years with the genre and recently had 'It' and with Warner Bros looking to make more DC movies now that aren't part of the DCEU and are not as connected they have the perfect chance to do something like that. They could also use this to adapt more Wildstorm and Vertigo series to screen 'cause most of them are best to keep separate and not mix with the DCEU and a lot of Wildstorm fans didn't like it when DC made Wildstorm a part of the main DC continuity 'cause they ended up changing a lot of their superpowers around that were similar to other superheroes that existed in DC completely replacing some of them with new powers and new looks. I am surprised Marvel doesn't do something like that too to separate a lot of the superheroes people want to see on screen that they are saying are too dark to be part of the MCU. They could use a reboot of 'Blade' to kick it off and then adapt others like Elsa Bloodstone, Ghost Rider, Moon Knight and many Max titles that haven't been adapted.

The 'X-Men' timeline did become a mess and what I don't get is why they decided to make 'The Dark Phoenix Saga' the basis for the third movie when there were so many other storylines they could have adapted first that could have focused more on existing characters who didn't get as much screen time as others like Cyclops and brought in new superheroes that could have become big parts of the stories in future movies but that probably had a lot to do with what cjdull76 mentioned below about the head of Fox not wanting to make more 'X-Men' movies so they just decided to go all out with 'The Dark Phoenix Saga.' Then we got 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' due to the popularity of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and I remember there being a lot of talk about others having their own 'X-Men: Origins' movies too but none of them went through. Some might disagree with me but I was never a fan of how they went from that to 'X Men: First Class' and I think they should have just done a full reboot after 'X Men Origins: Wolverine' instead of trying to fix something that was broken.
