If someone says hi I will say hi back.
I rarely initiate it. Tried it once or twice--didn't get a reaction so stopped.
One time a bunch of teenagers were walking in my direction and this girl among them looked at me and raised her hand like a claw and said "grrr." My interpretation of that was that she detected I was getting nervous walking by them. A correct deduction on her part.

I'd like to think like a 9 or something. (as long as they are friendly enough themselves) The problem is, many people are so standoffish these days that most people wouldn't engage in a conversation with me in the first place, so they'll never find out about my friendliness anyway.

I aim to be polite, civil, more than friendly with people I don't know. It's not like I want tons of new people in my life or anything like that. Overall, I have a positive attitude with others, try to make things work, whether I'm a customer in a store or a neighbor. I like people generally but sometimes,--just this afternoon in the supermarket--a dreadful experience which I did absolutely nothing to bring on, just happened. Since it was a very young woman in front of me at the self-checkout, I let is pass and said absolutely nothing. What the use of apologizing to someone for something you didn't do and wasn't even thinking about.
In yer face self-righteous rage, complete with the F word, is something up with which I shall not put.  |
