OR IS there a film or film series that IS more so? Everyone in JJ Abrams' Star Trek film series IS TOTALLY MISCAST. The WORST MISCASTING I've EVER seen in my ENTIRE LIFE. Zachary Quinto IS NO Leonard Nimoy and thus No Mr. Spock. He (ZQ) ACTUALLY resembles the 1970s action-figure/doll of Mr. Spock MORE SO than he DOES the late great Mr. Leonard Nimoy. Adam Driver (who I'm NOT a fan of) of Disney's shitty Star Wars franchise WOULD HAVE made a BETTER Mr. Spock than ZQ. Also resembles LN more.

I'm fine with the casting. Not so keen on some of the choices in terms of writing (Orci and Kurtzman) and directing (Justin Lin).

The cast is pretty damn good for the most part (lead by Pine & Quinto ) but some of directing / writing could be improved . I thought Lin really botched Beyond & the villain was laughably bad. But Hopefully we'll get to see Tarantino's Star Trek film some day! |

Much as I loath the JJ Abrams movies (Beyond I liked), the casting was never an issue for me. I wasn't initially too keen on Simon Pegg as Scotty, but he grew on me. And Pine nailed Kirk in Beyond.
The writing is where everything went wrong. Horribly, horribly wrong.

I actually really like the reboot series. It's really well acted as well. Quinto made a good Spock too. The acting in the originals wasn't nothing special. William Shatner's acting was pretty terrible in the originals. Chris Pine was far superior Kirk in every way. Say what you want them, but the acting is probably it's strongest point.

The casting was spot on for me, especially Urban, and the films generally better than most, if not all, the previous ones
