Not sure I've ever been asked that specific question, but when I'm asked the question "Why did you move to St. Louis from NYC" (my accent gives it away on occasion), I usually answer "Guess". I get answers of "Your job" or "relatives?". No one ever guesses "A woman?", so naturally when I answer "a woman", I explain how we met. ... so... how Did you meet? ;-) On the internet, on a 'Sopranos' board

poelzig I posted my reply to the question in my original answer. As for your apparent difficulty in figuring out what is problematic … can't help you there ! Interesting. I thought the meaning of the use of the word "problematic" was very apparent in your quote. It simply meant the OP's use of the word "every" deviated from fact which was clear given KLS verified that she has never thought about asking this question and enigma liked your post and of course general understanding of human behaviour makes it clear. I find it a bit funny that poelzig needs further clarification of the issue.

At no point did I ask what problematic meant or in any way at all say I didn't understand that bat was being embarrassingly pedantic. I simply asked WHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was problematic for. A question he has yet to answer and that you obviously are too simple minded to grasp. Do you understand what "who" means? Because at this point it seems you don't. I find it a bit funny that a smug want to be know it all such as yourself thinks who means what. Perhaps pedantics like you fellas could petition for the word "every" to be removed from the English language so others of your ilk won't be upset by it. Good luck boys. Feel free to exit your safe spaces at any time.

poelzigThe way you worded the "inquiry" sounded like you wanted to know who the "every" was problematic" for … really no need to get loud and confrontational IF you can calm down and explain in your indoor voice …. who what was problematic for ?
As for calling AJ "simple minded" … so far from the truth in addition to you being rude for no reason !
Embarrassingly pedantic … moi ? Guffaw !

Much more sensible reply to poe's latest rant than mine was … It seems to me our friend Poelzig is now convinced that you are pedantic and so am I as I am apparently a part of your ilk.
The thing is that a person is pedantic when he or she is looking for minor details. But here in this case the use of the word "every" was simply wrong. Yes, I understand sometimes people can slightly exaggerate and use the word every to mean a great percentage even if not every as in 'all'. But that does not apply in this case. Enigma, KLS and Amyghost all said they never asked the question in OP. Even the OP deleted his/her original post possibly because he/she realised it wasn't as popular question as he/she initially thought it to be so . Also, Poelzig might be pedantic when he thinks "problematic" is meant for somebody as in some person. I thought the word problematic was used in the sense as in "the use of every is a bit incorrect because it's not a question that majority of women ask."

Aj_June poe has these meltdowns on occasion... if one is lucky, one can step around the mess until he calms down. I actually made him laugh once … he had told me to do my own homework when I asked a question on the I Need to Know Board and my somewhat witty (and apparently non-pedantic) reply made him LOL and possibly even .
As for our ILKness … to us !

Every is a qualifier that has a very specific definition. 'n here it is : eve·ry [ˈevrē] DETERMINER (preceding a singular noun) used to refer to all the individual members of a set without exception. "the hotel assures every guest of personal attention" · "the children hung on his every word" synonyms: each · each and every · every single

Awwww Looks like I triggered you kids. Instead of all the back patting and circle jerking for each other, just admit you have no answer for "who" the innocent use of "every" caused problems for. Other than both of you apparently since y'all are now up to 7 or more posts about it. Please post several more times so I will know exactly how non pedantic you little guys are.

I don't think it caused problems, just seems odd to use a word that doesn't match what someone actually means to say.
