Baltimore should trade everyone who can bring back value, but I don't think you'll see any huge haul of prospects moving in July anymore, even for non-rentals. They should have done it last November. Now the added two contracts, Alex Cobb and Andrew Cashner, to add to Crash Davis' untradeable deal. Do what Houston did, dump everything, tell your fans "It won't be pretty for the next two to three years" and rebuild with a plan. The O's could have got two top five prospects for Manny Machado in November, they got diddly in July. They will get less than diddly for Britton.

Isn't J.A. Happ on the market too from the Jays? made the All-Star team this year. wouldn't mind his return to Philly - although it's not quite the 'Prodigal Son' story like Cole Hamels.....

I don't think my Jays will be trading Donaldson this month as he's still on the D and has been hurt off and on all year long so buyer beware.

Actually I'm surprised they're only a few games below 500. Other than Happ the other starters have all been on the DL at least once and have been mediocre and usually worse when healthy. Their relievers have been decent, even with Osuna's suspension for most of the season. They hit for power but not average and are no threat on the base paths. Not sure how their defence compares but I'd be surprised if they're much better than middle of the pack. Besides Happ I think a few of their relievers could be in demand. People don't think Osuna will pitch for the Jays again but he's youngest all time to get to 100 saves so I don't think they should be in a rush to trade him unless the price is right.

Archer is on a team-friendly deal so I don't see it happening with a division rival (if at all), unless the Yankees were willing to part with one of their already-up-and-producing young studs, which I also don't see happening.

would break my heart to see Hamels in a Nats uni (a million times worse than Werth) as they make a run for the division - only thing worse (maybe - I don't know - D.C. is our neighbor in the same division) right now would be him going to the Braves as the Phils and Braves fight it out.....

ORIOLES ACQUIRE THREE PITCHERS FROM THE NEW YORK YANKEES IN EXCHANGE FOR LHP ZACH BRITTON
The Orioles have acquired RHP DILLON TATE, LHP JOSH ROGERS, and RHP CODY CARROLL from the New York Yankees in exchange for LHP ZACH BRITTON.
Tate has been assigned to Double-A Bowie, while Rogers and Carroll have been assigned to Triple-A Norfolk.
Tate, 24, went 5-2 with a 3.38 ERA (31 ER/82.2 IP) and 75 strikeouts in 15 starts for Double-A Trenton this season. Over 58 career minor league games (50 starts), he has gone 16-7 with a 3.53 ERA (101 ER/257.1 IP) and 216 strikeouts against 85 walks. His 3.38 ERA this season ranks eighth-lowest in the Eastern League, while his 1.11 WHIP ranks fifth-best.
Rogers, 24, spent the entire season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, pitching to a record of 6-8 with a 3.95 ERA (48 ER/109.1 IP) and 83 strikeouts across 19 starts. He is currently tied for fourth in the International League in innings pitched. For his career, Rogers has gone 28-19 with a 3.16 ERA (123 ER/350.2 IP) and 294 strikeouts in 63 minor league games (58 starts).
Carroll, 25, went 3-0 with nine saves, a 2.38 ERA (11 ER/41.2 IP) and 55 strikeouts in 32 relief appearances for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He has not allowed a home run in 171 batters faced this season, and has limited opponents to a .184 batting average (27-for-147).

Cole Hamels off to the Cubs. And Aaron Judge broke his wrist, out a month at least. Court adjourned.

disappointed phils didn't land hamels or happ.
just landed cabrera fromt the Mets.
meh - 32 year old 2nd baseman - that being said - they needed to do something at 2nd - Kingery has really underwhelmed his rookie season. this may be a good addition to platoon with hernandez

Seems like every year the deadline becomes more irrelevant, with fewer and fewer deals of any interest or significance.

Seems like every year the deadline becomes more irrelevant, with fewer and fewer deals of any interest or significance. More teams in wild card contention. More tanking teams without stars also.
