Do you think you look weird, since you're more used to the way you look in a mirror?

Do you think you look weird, since you're more used to the way you look in a mirror? No.
I've long since became familiar with both versions.

When seeing them for the first time, I've always thought, "What a crappy photo."
Then I see them 15, 20, 25 or more years later, and think, "Why did I ever think this was a crappy photo?"

I look at myself the same way regardless if I'm looking in the mirror or at pictures.

Yeah, I think I generally look better in a mirror (or in person) than in pictures. but every now and then I take a decent picture that I don't mind. but I guess some of us are more photogenic than others are. Doghouse6 lol ; that's a good way of putting it because that's got to be true for us all. but I am still at a age where that's not a factor for me, yet. although it's around the corner ; but I suspect in another 10-15 years or so (ill be 39 later this year) I am going to start seeing it that way as right now I still consider myself to be roughly at my peak(looks wise) as even if I am on the down side(like if I have dropped some) it's not much since I still look largely the same as I did in my 20's as while I can see my skin is aging a little bit when looking at myself closely in a mirror compared to say 10 years ago, my overall core look is largely the same. but I guess since I tend to view general age like this, it's not surprising my general looks are still pretty much peak-ish... teens and younger = barely out of your diapers. 20's = spring chicken young (your peak youth) 30's = young (basically the later stages of ones youth) 40's = neither old or young (roughly middle age) 50's = early stages of old (basically one could say the beginning of the end as ones youth is clearly gone at this point but at the same time your not that old either so you don't have to sweat it too much. but after this... lol ; plus, from people I talk to they say this is the point their body starts to feel it's aging.) 60's = pretty much old 70's = old (death is around the corner for many at this point given the average age of death) 80's on up = dinosaur for the record... my grandma will be 100 years old in November as she's my only grandparent still alive. ill classify that as older than dirt ; like in her case, when she was in her 70's she was not that old given she was still going pretty strong as I would say it was when she was around 92-93 when her mind started to slip noticeably. for a while now... she has her off days, as you can tell her reasoning is mostly gone(I would assume dementia is got to be a factor with her on some level but it's probably normal given her age), but she's not off the deep end or anything as she still knows who everyone is and remembers the old days etc. but you can tell her short term memory is not the greatest even though she can still remember some stuff here and there that happened recently. p.s. seems the average age of death is roughly high 70's or low 80's, call it about 80, the last I knew. so I generally base my descriptions of age around this as you can see that list also tends to play inline with general death as dying before your 50's is generally slim. but once you get into your 50's your chances of dying start to increase noticeably with each passing decade from random heart trouble etc.

I look at myself in the mirror and I like the way I look, but then when I look at a picture of myself I am horrified at the difference.

...my dad was a professional photographer. He always told me that most women hate the way they look in photos. He explained that because women (in general) primp themselves in a mirror, and because it is a direct opposite reflection of their visage which they have become accustomed to, they cannot accept their appearance in photos which is (in reality) how they really look. Men, (in general) on the other hand, don't give a care how they look...one way or the other...

Anytime I get bothered by that, I remember Billy Crystal saying it in City Slickers, and then I can laugh about it. One thing about losing it from your head: you look just as good waking up as you did going to bed the night before (or at the very least, you don't look any worse).

Yeah, credit where credit's due, Billy Crystal in City Slickers is where I got that from (and I've used it ever since!). Only I had NO idea how prescient and true that was going to be when I first saw that WAY back when!
