The Stone Roses' debut. Sounded really ordinary on repeated listens. Then finally a lightbulb went off and I could appreciate it a lot more.

Vhaldemar - I Made My Own Hell (2003): I originally found the vocals of Carlos Escudero an acquired taste. I loved the music though, and kept coming back every month or two to play the album on YouTube. Then the video got taken down and I just had to buy the CD - which I did, in 2015. More recently I purchased Vhaldemar - Against All Kings (2017). Iron Mask - Hordes Of The Brave (2005): My experience with this one parallels that of the album above. I discovered this on YouTube a decade after it was released. After repeated plays, sometimes separated by weeks, I bought the CD in 2015. And I also bought a later release by the same band, i.e., Iron Mask - Black as Death (2011). LionSoul - Welcome Storm (2017): As I previously noted, this album was a grower for me. I initially found the second half of the album (tracks 6-10) more impressive than the first half. I kept coming back to this album, but it took several complete listens before I committed to a purchase.

Nevermind - Nirvana. God, how I hated Nirvana the first few times i heard Teen Spirit. "Mumblevana". Had the radio on, I was in the other room so I couldn't change it. Forced to listen again, I caught on.
Goat's Head Soup - Stones. Thought it was inferior the first few times I heard it. It's not quite as good as the four preceding albums, but it's no Dirty Work wither. I'd rank it ahead of Emotional Rescue

Radiohead - The Bends. Fatima Mansions - Viva Dead ponies
Not impressed first couple of listens. Then it clicked. Both are some my favourite albums now.

One of the more stereotypical ones--Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica.
Took periodic tries over at least a decade before it really clicked with me.

So many.
But I’ll just mention one: Dream Theater’s Images and Words. I didn’t like it at first and now it’s my favorite album. That’s why it annoys me when people say they listened to an album once and they didn’t like it so they’re not going to listen to it again.

The Stone Roses' debut. Sounded really ordinary on repeated listens. Yeah for me too. The only song I really liked was I Wanna Be Adored, but after a few listens I liked most of the songs. Still think IWBA is the only really great song on the album though.
