With Disney not making the Mulan remake a musical, is it a good idea or not?

I would say yes. I've asked my friends what they thought of it not being a musical and they say they are fine with it not being a musical because it was the story that made the movie good not the songs. In a way I agree,but I was really hoping to see "I'll make a ma out of you" being done in live action so color me disappointed that I may not get my wish. Still looking forward to it,but I was really hoping with the live action remakes they would still keep the songs and the only ones that have done that have been Jungle book and Beauty and the beast and now Aladdin and supposedly Lion king.

It doesn't matter if a movies songs aren't particularly memorable. I only remember the "Man" song in Mulan.
They are needed in Beauty & the Beats and Aladdin imo, but not really for Mulan.
They should not go halfway in. That was the one big flaw of Jungle Book.

I put "don't care". I could see them including the big number, "Reflection" in there. Do we really need to see someone impersonating a Donny Osmond tune with no shirt on for live action? No.....just no.  |

I see this live action remake having all the potential to be bad-ass. I hope they don't make it too cutesy, and leaving music out is a step in the right direction. In fact, I hope they shelve the Aladdin remake and do this one instead.

well i think they have two very good songs, but it's not really a musical. now i'd like nods, motifs alluding to those songs, have them maybe integrated into the score.

I liked the music in Mulan. I generally have liked the music in most of the films . . . with the exception of Frozen.

Mulan is more an adventure/war story. It doesn't need musical numbers. Now I just the whole cast is Chinese.
