There are both good things and bad things in front of them. He may be ignoring the good things but you are ignoring the bad things, which is not really much better. Both ways are a bad way to live. Focussing on only the good things in life does not change the fact that there are people out there who may not have access to any of them. |

No, because I've never been married, and I still cling to the hopelessly outdated notion that only stable married couples should have children. Single people who have the urge to nurture something should get a dog, cat, or turtle. I know it's the trend nowadays to put single parents on a pedestal, but many of the ones I've met I wouldn't trust to take proper care of a houseplant.

No. My mother came from a very dysfunctional family of six children. Of those six, one never married and never had a child, by choice. The others married, had children, and of those children, three committed suicide (two in the same family).
I was lucky to have a great Dad, but I didn't think I knew how to be a good mother, so I content myself with rescuing animals in need, through a rescue group.
I try to lessen or alleviate suffering in the world, and no kids are screwed up because of me or my mother or my grandfather. Best decision I ever made.

I don't think there are too many people who actually want and can have children, but aren't having them because they don't want to bring a child into this "horrible world" or think the world is already too populated. I imagine the majority of people who are choosing not to have children are doing so because they don't want the responsibility and financial hardship, which is fair enough.
