I have 2. One was just miserable. One where I'd thought me and my brother were going to die.
Miserable: Me, my brother, and nephew went to see Man of Steel opening weekend in Hartsville SC. June in the Pee Dee region of SC is miserable even at night. Hartsville has an old school single theater that they converted in the 90's to 2 screens (basically just built a wall down the center) Well it was warm that evening even at 7pm. I'd say still in the low 90's high 80's (25c to 33c). The half theater was packed not an open seat. That's when I noticed it was warm. See the ac died during the trailers. By half way through the movie people were leaving. Not because of the movie, but it must've gotten to high 90's low 100's (35-40c) with all of those people. I literally hated the movie until I resaw it again a few weeks later.
Almost Died (hyperbole) : In 1996, me and my brother went to see A Time to Kill in Salisbury NC. Again packed theater maybe a hand full of open seats in a decently sized theater. The demographics: I get to movies early and I watched people file in. Me and my brother were the only white people in the theater except for 4 very rednecky people that came in late. Not a big deal, my mother would've had a problem with it as she's old school racist. Well we get to the scene at the beginning where the child is beaten, raped, and strung up by her neck. That's when it happened. The 4 rednecks in the second row screamed (edited for polite company) "Hell yeah hang that N#$@#!" I've never tried to disappear into a theater seat harder than when that happened. Me and my brother exchange a look. We decide to stay but as soon as credits started we bolted. Most late night theater showings have a police car out in the parking lot around here (well in the NC/SC area I've gone to movies) That night, I don't know if someone alerted the police or not but there were 4 cruisers in the parking lot. Me and my brother quickly made our way to the car and high tailed it back to our college.
What is your worst experience with a theater, not a movie, just the theater.

One of my multiple viewings of The Dark Knight had some audience members making homophobic jokes about Heath Ledger and his death.
Funny how Broke Back Mountain triggered people.

Wonder Woman. Had a trio of women behind me who kept yapping so I had to turn around and tell em to shut up which I don't like doing as I'm usually very reserved.

1. Project Almanac
The entire movie was basically shaky-cam footage. The camera kept moving around and things were out of focus. It literally gave me vertigo. I had to turn my eyes away from the screen several times so I wouldn't get dizzy watching it.
2. Spider-Man: Homecoming
The first 10 minutes had shaky-cam footage showing Peter in the airport fight in Civil War. It was almost as bad as Project Almanac.
3. Rogue One
Unlike the first 2, this was a bad experience not because of the movie (which was good), but because I didn't get to see the whole movie the first time. The movie played for about 15 minutes, then the screen just went black. I sat in the theater for about 5 minutes and then went outside and tracked down a theater employee. He said they were working on it and would have it back up in 10 minutes. He said I could wait or I could get to Customer Service and get a refund. I wanted to see the movie so I decided to go back into the theater and wait. About 15 minutes later, the movie restarted, but there was no sound.
I went outside again and the theater employee said they were working on it but had no estimated timeframe when they'll have it fixed. Since I didn't know how much longer the wait would be, I decided I would watch the movie another day. So I went to Customer Service and they gave me a refund and a voucher for a free movie ticket.

I walked out on Ghost Rider but not because of the audience but the movie sucked. Really, that's it. No riots or idiots in the crowd at my place.

Best Theater Experience?
2 years a go me and a friend drove from Charlotte Nc to Chicago to see Black Sabbath. I am kind of a control freak when it comes to driving. I like to drive at night (less traffic) My dumbass drove straight (with gas stops) from 10pm to 9am. Not thinking that the Hotel wouldn't be able to open a room early. (usually I've been able to talk hotel employees into it with out a fee, but nope)
Deathly tired, my friend suggested just go see a movie to kill time. We went to the Ridge Mall AMC. Assigned seating. Biggest electric reclining seats. Lumbar adjustment. Slept like a baby for 1.5hrs while Sausage Party was playing.

GOTG 1. I thought I was been punked due to how awful the movie was. when the dance off happened, I thought a gag reel of the film made it into the film.

Guys can you see how people think you are trolls or troll like? When specifically asked to comment on how environment dictated the enjoyment of a movie not the actual content of a movie what did you do? You found it as yet ANOTHER opportunity to bash a movie.
Or just to comment on an experience with a theater, not even what it did to the enjoyment of a movie. A tangential topic to the overarching topic we discuss.

But I believe Vassaggo was responding to summers8. I didn't/don't want a personal call out messages. Just wanted to share my observation. I am an optimist. I hope some people don't know that they can be trollish. I figure a gentle observation on why some people get shit might be helpful.

Mission impossible fallout
Imax theater. Baby starts choking & crying & the parents don't leave. Your kid is coughing & crying. Remove it from the theater. Why do you have a baby at the movie? The baby isnt enjoying the film until its a couple years old meaning you are too cheap to hire a sitter.

Some jerk sitting exactly next to me (exactly next to me!!!) kept talking aloud during Antman and the Wasp. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he was a bit on the spectrum so I didn't start no shit. But about midway he pulls out his cell phone... and I don't know where it came from but my mouth opened up and I was all like "Oh, you're putting the phone away, dude!" And he did. And he shut up too. I wish I'd done it earlier! LOL

I thought you admitted to watching a pirated copy of SMH, am I mistake or are you lying through yah teeth again? No, that was the day I had to take my car in for maintenance. The theater is down the block from the maintenance shop so whenever I take my car in for maintenance, I go to the theater and check out what's playing.

You paid money to watch a movie you were gonna rate 1/10 no matter what?

The worst I had was when I took my cousin to see Transformers Dark of the Moon, we brought tickets but weren't told it was a 3d screening so we had to watch a 3d film without the glasses which was...annoying, had a trio of teenager *17-19* twats being obnoxious at every joke or action scene as well as disgusting anytime rosie huntington-whiteley came on screen, made it about 45 minutes before I had to stand up and threaten to cave their skulls in if they didn't shut the fuck up, sat down and they threw popcorn for approximately 30 seconds before I lost it and jumped up and chased them out the theatre, problem was I still had to sit through a Michael Bay 3d film without 3d glasses and I had a fucking hangover...fuck my cousins birthday next time I stayed in bed.
