Donβt mean to brag. I donβt play for the Sox. But Iβve been a fan since 1975, and this is the best team Iβve seen at the present time. But the 1978 team looked like a machine and look at what happened.
No counting the pennants until the go up the flagpole

The "Bucky Dent" season. Sox played at an amazing pace until the AS break. 10 up on the AL East, 14 1/2 up on the Yankees. But they crashed in the 2nd half. Yanks walloped them in a series in Fenway, he infamous "Boston Massacre". They were tied with 99 win and had a one game playoff, decided by Bucky "I can't hit the ball out of the infield" Dent's HR. Yaz, Jim Rice, the great Fred Lynn, Pudge Fisk, Dewey Evans. Their starters were OK, Eck, Mike Torrez, Looie Tiant, but not nearly as good as this rotation. The closer was Bob Stanley, the same pitcher who was responsible for the 1986 Game Six fuckery. Him and that clown Cal Schiraldi couldn't get one measly out.

Who is the bigger enemy in Beantown - Bucky Dent or Bill Buckner? And who do you think is the more tragic figure - Bartman or Buckner? I say Bartman - poor schlub was just a fan that reacted - Buckner was a professional getting paid handsomely. That being said - always felt bad for the way you a$$holes treated Buckner - shame on you - letting him throw out the first pitch - that's a little late in my book - you heathens may as well have been the townsfolk tracking down Frankenstein- so do you go Buckner or Dent?

Buckner shouldn't have been on the field in the 9th inning of Game 6. His knees were shot and he couldn't move. John McNamara wanted him to be on the field to celebrate so he left Dave Stapleton on the bench. And Fox Sports were the villain of the Bartman game. They kept shoing the poor slob and showing him and showing him. He was on TV more than Dick Clark and you do know I'm not from Boston. And I don't remember a lot of hatred given to Buckner. He swung a great bat down the stretch for the Sox but he was a defensive liability. But they had two DH's in the lineup, Billy and Don Baylor.

Since I made a snarky comment, I have no doubt the Sox will lose both. Could be looking ahead to the Yankees this weekend.

so infuriating - this is why herrera finds himself in the doghouse a lot.
how do you manage to get doubled up on that play - without even attempting to slide into 3rd.............

Nola is arguably the most underrated pitcher in MLB, heβs become a terrific ace, no one talks about him though.

He got a ton of press around here 2015 after a solid start to his career. I thought he was rather subpar/average in 2016 and 2017 - but played for abysmal teams. Nice to see him be that 'Ace' who we all thought we may have at the end of 2015.
