Well, she was useless, but this still seems like kind of a cruel thing to do to molar.

I missed where in the article anybody said, "She was a useless old lady after all--who cares?" Could you please point it out to me?

Oh , my dad taught us how to deliver a painless injection. I will be happy to teach your family how to do one.

Yes, it is called inference. Why else would the family want to terminate her? You would make a lousy lawyer.

SHE WAS A USELESS OLD LADY AFTER ALL---WHO CARES?? WELL? "USELESS"? "OLD LADY"? WELL... Clearly you don't give a shit about anyone but yourself! Since you are not part of the solution, I guess you are part of the problem... And that means that you are USELESS too... "Oh, Doctor..."

I figured that was the case, but sadly it's not like there aren't those out there who could mean that if they say it.

I also do not see anywhere in the article that it said that the family wanted to terminate her. As I understand it, her dementia had progressed to the point that her husband was no longer able to care for her at home, so she was placed in a nursing home (something she had explicitly stated in her advance directives that she did not want to have happen to her, by the way). While in the nursing home, her dementia worsened, and she became fearful and angry and began wandering the halls at night. When asked whether she wanted to continue to live or she wanted to end her life, on some days she said she wanted to end her life but on others she said not yet. At a certain point, a nursing home physician determined that she was suffering unreasonably and decided to euthanize her based on the advance directives she had written while she was still considered mentally competent. The family was asked to hold her down so that the physician could insert a needle to administer the medication. The articles do not clearly describe why she was resisting the insertion of the needle, which it took the doctor an unsually long while (something like 15 minutes) to insert. (Maybe it was because most people associate needles with pain--and if the doctor was having trouble getting the needle inserted, then it was surely causing her a great deal of pain.) There are several obvious problems with the way this family's case was handled, but it would be a very poor case on which to base a campaign to ban euthanasia.

You were more worried about my inference than the crime. So, I will put it to you, that you are a part of the problem.

Yes, this is the end, Ada. Your black heart will soon stop pumping the slimy ooze that keeps your rotted flesh from subsuming the nutrients you suck from pigshit. The sword of Damocles hanging over your head has finally been freed! May you be impaled on a pole right next to my local war memorial, for me to gloat forever more on your demis......oh fuck, its some other old granny.
