Has anyone else watched these two recent anime films yet? I thought they were okay. The characters and storyline were interesting enough and the animation was good. Didn't really feel like true Godzilla films, however, and could have easily been made without him altogether without much difference to the plot. I do realize they wanted to do something different but I'm kind of over the whole futuristic dystopian thing. Still looking forward to the third one though, which will be the final film in the trilogy.
I'm ready for Toho to start making live action Godzilla films again and reintroduce classic kaiju like Ghidorah, Mothra, Rodan, Anguirus, and Mechagodzilla, while also introducing some new monsters. I'm digging what American is doing so far, but I'm so ready for a new Japanese Godzilla era. Shin Godzilla (aka Godzilla Resurgence) was pretty good, but I kind of want the series to go back to its roots.
