I imagine Luke will be treated in TLJ the way Han was in TFA. Beyond that, this isn't his story anymore. I just hope TLJ and IX won't continue to be The Rey Show. Agree and disagree:

Huh? Then who's story do you think it is now? Because if its not Luke then its definitely Rey. Its certainly not Kylo, Finn or Poe's.
When I say "The Rey Show", I'm not talking about Rey as the protagonist. I want and expect her to continue to be just that. What I mean is TFA was purposely designed to draw almost complete attention to Rey as a strong and independent female character who never allowed anyone else to look good saving her, particularly her male co-lead, Finn. They were polar opposites in terms of skills, personal victories, heroic saves and overall competence. Rey was given a bunch of skills that she kept showing off throughout the movie. Even when she made mistakes (e.g. accidentally released the rathtars) or got captured, they worked out in her favor. For example, Kylo Ren capturing Rey allowed her to awaken to the Force, resist his mind read before turning the tables on him, free herself using the Jedi mind trick (instead of having to wait for Finn like Poe did) and positioned her to defeat Kylo Ren a second time in a lightsaber fight. This movie screamed "Girl power!", logic and negative impact to the story be damned. Star Wars are supposed to be ensemble films where the main characters have some combination of failure and success as well as a reasonably limited set of skills. They take turns saving one another, especially in the Original Trilogy. Meanwhile, TFA threw Finn under the bus repeatedly for Rey's further empowerment. Every time he tried to save her, his help either wasn't necessary, he got knocked out during the rescue, or he needed saving instead. He had no personal victories, heroic saves, advanced skills (e.g. piloting, mechanics, languages), and he bumbled and was the butt of the joke throughout the movie. He couldn't even finish TFA conscious! Rey and Finn needed balance. I hope TLJ and IX allow us to see Rey have limitations, lose and need saving sometimes. I also want to see Finn learn a skill or two, achieve some personal victories and heroic saves like a normal Star Wars main character and be treated by the film with dignity and respect rather than a bumbling black clown.

Didn't they say, from the very beginning, that these movies were about the next generation and not Luke, Leia and Han? They said it was about the Next Generation of the Skywalkers. So far we got an eventual ded Leia. A soon 2 b ded Kylo Ren. A prime candidate 4 a Force Ghost in Luke and a Mystery Girl. Some next generation this had turned out 2 b.

However, I'm questioning whether I'll enjoy Disney's interpretation of the character. At least Rian Johnson is a part of the package. His work on Breaking Bad is memorable.

And besides, if Kylo dies in episode 9 then the trilogy will still have been about the next generation of Skywalkers.
