Mad Man is not not a good show
Lost got worse and worse for each season.
The quality of tv shows today are in general far better than tv shows of the past ( sitcoms are the exception)

Most 'no laugh-track' sitcoms are pretentious and unfunny hipster bollocks.

I still say the half man in TWO AND A HALF MEN is john cryer. that show should have just quietly ended when that shit happened with Charlie sheen.
REBA, MOM and BABY DADDY are trash congratulating tv and they are embarrassments.
TEACHERS is an embarrassment to the profession.

I give MASH 6/10, so I'm obviously saying it's overrated.
Got to divide MASH into two separate shows. The pie in the face Frank Burns Mash and the more realistic Winchester Mash.
The first Mash is definitely "funnier" because slapstick will always be funnier than non-slapstick, except to stuffed shirts.
But the first Mash suffers when it becomes preachy, and Mash has always been preachy. It's one of the super Hollywood hate preaching shows ever. It preached divisiveness and false accusations, and that's what the writers and directors strived to do, divide and cause hate.
When MASH became big, it caused a definite psychological mob mentality among those who worshiped it (I was alive then, in high school, and can testify that over half the kids and half the adults I met did worship it. objective view, as I had not seen it for the first two years or so). It preached a mob mentality. Frank Burns was the new "negro to lynch", someone for the past clan members to falsely accuse of every unseen act, of every piece of litter, of every bad thought possible.
Frank Burns was a myth. He didn't exist. This is obvious to an objective viewer. He was that way in the movie and in the book. The clown who wrote the book was a forerunner of today's lying devil worshiping human resources manager, who amasses false testimony over and over to hurl at innocent victims.
In the past, these same devil worshipers could get away with lynching those they could find that were below the law. Today, they are afraid of being caught even against the most impoverished, and since 1965, they knew they couldn't get away with doing it against black men. So, the new lynch mobs of the former clan now had to find poor white men to falsely accuse and persecute and curse and libel and sabotage.
It was a sick, twisted show. Those who think the show was written to locate problems are either liars or fools, but certainly lying at least subconsciously. It wasn't about identifying a problem, it was about feeding the demon of mob mentality and dividing people. It wasn't about "team", it was about constantly hurting the "team".
Then there's Hawkeye and Trapper. Trapper was more of the realistic character. Hawkeye was really a traitor. He was preached as a demi god, but only a fool would believe he existed. He was allowed to be a traitor because he was a demi god in surgery. When one reads the book, one can't possibly believe the author. When one watches the movie or TV show, one can't possibly believe the director. Only the most feeble mind can buy into it.
The second MASH was more clever. Winchester was the most realistic doctor of the era in the show. This uppity superior surgeon still existed in my days in the late sixties and early seventies. Potter brought the jokes of the era into the show. If one watches, one can easily deduce that Morgan or someone acting for him, took the jokes, many from Reader's Digest, and inserted them into his role. He and BJ provided more realistic doctors of the era into the show.
However, while the characters got better, the Hollywood preaching persisted, including the neo Nazi Hollywood agenda of making sure no dark haired woman was allowed to live very long. This was a depressing (I'll qualify that by saying "depressing to young men" as we were given only one or two bits of eye candy among those bland, pale, ordinary, plain blond women, and then those one or two brunettes were always killed off by the Nazi writers and directors. So, depressing to the young men who were given a depressing world in TV and movies) and undeniable agenda of Hollywood and New York TV and movie preaching.
That's not "opinion" by the way. Simply observation. No judgment, just the facts.

Fringe was superior to The X-Files, which it was initially compared to. It had a proper ending and questions were answered.

The premise that the Department of Defense wants to hide a reason to request a humongous budget for appropriations is something they probably tried to sell themselves to the feeble minded. Then, there was the Hollywood neo Nazi preaching of the show in every episode I ever saw, which were just excuses from jealous women to kill off as many hot brunettes as possible, so no heterosexual guy could ever enjoy the show, way too depressing.
