First chance on '5 as Alexis feeds a cross ball in to Mata at the far post but he fumbles his task having escaped the offside trap.

Darmian received it just outside the area on the right and slotted it into the area where an unmarked Alexis Sanchez didn't need a second chance to outwit a stranded Casilla on '18.

United catch out Madrid on the counter attack as Mata receives a long ball from his own half and then feeds it across to Alexis who heads it down for Herrera to drill a low one past Casilla, once again stranded. '27 gone and still no smile from Maureen.

Bale fancies his chances from outside the box on '31 and lets fly with a left footer but it sails wide and over and he looks ruefully in the ball's direction. He'll have to see to his top-knot (or whatever they're called) at half time as to my eyes it appears to be coming undone.

A patient build-up in the third minute of first-half added time sees Bale cross an inch-perfect ball in to Benzema who stabs it home from inside the six-yard box.
