So here we are, on August 1, the dog days of summer are upon us. For many of us in the U.S., it usually means work slows down until Labor Day, I know my friends across the pond enjoy their August holiday, and sitting here in the office is basically just filling time until I leave in a few hours.
I, being a huge fan of baseball and no other big 4, coupled with being a fan of a team that actively hates its fans, currently have little to watch or enjoy right now by way of baseball, save for whatever game is on MLB Network. As such, I turn my attention to my other enjoyments.
I'm a huge astronomy nerd. I find the cosmos endlessly fascinating, from star-gazing in the mountains, to just reading and learning about the ebb and flow of the solar system and the universe as a whole. The past few weeks, Venus, Jupiter and Mars have been highly visible to the naked eye and it's so cool to look up and see them. If you have a telescope, then it's awesome! Mercury is also visible but it's been below the horizon for us in the northeast.
What are other, non-sports related things that interest you?

I am also interested in Cosmology, I used to read every magazine article, and watch every show, about M theory, supermassive blackholes, parallel universes, etc.
Another interest is Ancient Rome, I used to watch and read about that a ton.

August is a great month in Australia for sport.
AFL and Rugby League are in the final month of regular season play
Rugby Union Internationals start
and all the summer sports are gearing up ready to go in October / November, so the anticipation starts about now...

American literature, world literature (20th and 21st century), punk rock, indie rock, beer, women.
But most everything interests me some. I loved school growing up and I can watch a documentary on anything and be interested in it.

Mineral exploration. I enjoy hiking around remote parts of California, Oregon, and Nevada looking for interesting minerals. Found some gold, fluorite, lapiz lazuli, sphalerite, galena, pyrite, amazonite, and realgar.

Food is my life. A significant part of spare time is devoted to finding new foods and watching food videos on youtube. I also love cooking and willing to try making new things. I highly recommend Ethiopian food. Less known relatively to their quality. klawrencio79 - You are an old member of F&D board. Many old members of F&D have returned in last 2 weeks so I think it will be great if you also return to posting on that board full of nice people. Cinema is also one of my passion. I am a big fan of world cinema (particularly pre1980s movies). Japanese movies may be my fav but I also love Italian, Soviet, French and Ingmar begman movies. |

I enjoy rubbing my fingers in between my toes and then smelling them at the end of the day. I have a Diary with notes on each day. Today's entry was "Vomit-y Gorgonzola"
But seriously, I guess movies and TV and music like other people said. Outside of those three obvious things, I enjoy fishing. I go out on a boat in the Raritan Bay for Fluke this time of year and I also like to fish off shore for snapper(juvenile blue fish). They are very fun to catch because they really put up a fight and if there are a lot of them in the area, you could be catching one after another on every cast
