Does 'technology' really need different boards? I'd think one is more than enough. Maybe call it 'science and technology?' Cars board can go in there too.
How about an overall 'arts' board that includes other boards already here that might not get a lot of play? Include topics such as ballet/dance, theatre/plays, photography/painting/sculpture, poetry, opera/classical music, etc. I'll certainly add an Arts category if there's enough demand for it, but it would probably be a forum with subs. No, Technology doesn't need different boards. Thanks for the suggestions! You already have an 'art' board, just expand it to 'the arts' and include the topics I mentioned, some of which already have separate boards such as theatre, photography, fashion, etc.
I also think having sub-forums before there's any demand for them is a mistake. For example if you do go with one board for 'the arts' don't bother with sub-forums. If at some point a large number of the threads relate to specific topics, for example photography, then you can create a sub-forum for it IF the regulars want it.
Same goes with classic TV. Forget the decade sub-forums, or at least condense them to 2-3 max for now. Early (40s-60s), Classic (70s-90s) and Modern (2000s-present).
The more forums and sub-forums you create the less busy said forums will look and the less likely people will stick around. Also the main forum postings should be at the top, then the sub-forum links. All these forum listings makes it hard to navigate the site without bookmarking different pages. Is there any way to customize so that the pages you want to visit are at the top, or at least having a 'favourites' dropdown like IMDb?

Hello, John. I'm very happy with the progress of these boards. Thanks for all your hard work. I have a question: When composing a REPLY, I haven't been able to get the PREVIEW to work. Is it just me, or is there a bug in the program? Thanks, -Gubbs

I'd discourage sandbox/soapbox type boards, as they "invite" conflict and, especially, flaming
Those boards provide a valuable service. They keep the lesser among us away from the politics board and allow us to flame and troll each other at a higher intellectual level.

There's a section for movies. There's a section for tv shows. That makes sense. But then seperae from those there's a section for "genres". Why? It's needlessly confusing. Everything in the "genres" section should be able to fit in the existing movies and tv sections. Get rid of the entire "genres" section. It'll make the board easier to navigate.

Aside from a few small additions and rearrangements, the boards are set up as they were on IMDb's general forums.

I'd love an International Politics board. Anything not about the US just got lost in the mix on the Politics board. I think that's a good idea, but then I'd have to change the Politics board to U.S. Politics and those guys scare me so let's put that on the back burner for now. I laughed, but completely get your point there.
