I use it for rating movies. I rated more than 1.400, so every time I watch a movie I add the rating there.
Sometimes I read a movie review, they are very useful. But that´s it.

Not a lot of modern day websites are as silent as IMDb. There's obviously something going on behind-the-scenes.

imdb's best features were not tied to the forums. I bet most people thought the forums were the best thing about the site. the discussions were what made it. any old twat can find film reviews and info on many other sites. nobody needs IMDB now. |

I blocked IMDB, moved reviews to TMDB, and mostly converse here. It's working. IMDB can do what it wants.

What is the point of searchng actor names, shooting locations and release dates whne you can't even discuss anything? I quite often want to look up when a film was made, who was in it etc. IMDb is good for that. and people on here are always asking questions like 'what are your favourite films of such and such a year' etc. I need to look that up somewhere. |

I still use it to see if there will be a nude scene(s) in the movie. If I'm satisfied with the answer, I watch the film.

I boycotted the site and refuse to visit it. The message boards were easily the best part about the site and it was dumb as heck for them to remove them. Yeah, I haven't visited since the boards closed, though I get it - the site is basically the unofficial/official bridge to the Hollywood machine for cinephiles - that it became overrun with trolls, & only getting worse, the social tap had to be shut off. |

Here is where the discussions are now, but we can still do the research over there.. If a particular discussion is missing, we can start it. |
