David Cronenberg - I loved "The Fly" (1986) and liked "Scanners" (1981). I hated "Videodrome" (1983), "eXistenZ" (1999) and especially hated "Naked Lunch" (1991).

Jan deBont, originally a cinematographer who should still be at that position. Debuting as a director with "Speed" was pure luck.

Shockingly no one comes to mind.
Maybe Neill Blomkamp because I kinda liked Elysium, but not really.

James "I have sensitive nipples" Gunn: Super Did you take my advice and watch it or had you already seen it? heavily weighs the head that wears your advise, but I have this on DVD since many years (has a great cover). It's disturbed like Gunn, but with some artistic merit and ideas.
