I might have surprisingly little to say here. I hope you have enough spare time this summer to put a lot of thought into this, more than usual for this virtually anonymous board. I'm hoping some of you who haven't written 100 words in a post before might be inspired to try that.
The task is to compose your thoughts on the various qualities of teachers and soldiers, and compare and contrast them. Which are you? Or which are you more like? Why? Which would you rather be? Why might that work out or not? How do the various belief systems, or lack-of-belief systems, compare to teachers or soldiers? How do the various political parties in your country compare to teachers and soldiers?
What issues in society these days, if any, especially need teachers or soldiers? Would teachers make good soldiers? Would soldiers make good teachers? Are there any teachers or soldiers who had a special influence on your life?

when i think of the trillions of dollars spent through out history teaching people to be soldiers; what an enormous waste of time, energy and capital. but i expect these things from those who are enamored by power and fueled by greed. it sort of goes along with the whole manifested destiny territorial hoedown.

It might be a good question for the Philosophy board, but I don't know how much traffic that board gets. I just happened to see fleet's simplistic (if poetic) reply, so I stuck it to him.

...as a former soldier (Vietnam War era '69/'71) I have been active in vet affairs including awarding ROTC high school members with awards for scholastic and military achievement. In my most recent award ceremony, I gave these medals to 2 young women.

Is anyone in the military because they did not achieve academically?

See also: engineer, sonar technician, meterologist Not everyone is a grunt. 👍

I doubt they are on board nuclear-powered vessels for entire deployments. 👍

I mean by computer with little input from the pilot.

I mean by computer with little input from the pilot. The F-117 is no longer in service, but not many knew that it could perform attack missions on its own. It still needed a pilot to get to that point. The F-117 had a mix of advanced and conventional equipment, some of which you would find on other aircraft that were developed at the same time. There are still aspects about it that remain classified though, so it wouldn't surprise me if it really did fly itself.

Simple...
If all the world's soldiers were to quit, the world would be a vastly better place.
If all the world's teachers were to quit, the world would be a vastly worse place.
QED Teachers are far superior to soldiers.

Would just like to let @jdsouther know that @fjh is posting on this board. He was seen searching for father jack at least 3 times.

The board was going downhill fast.
