Tarkovsky movies
What about The Mirror (1975) or Sacrifice (1986) or Ivan's Childhood (1962) Stalker deserves to be in Top 50 Solaris (1972) is not in Top 250 either Nostalgia (1983) is also cool

Every movie within "My Favorite Movies" (see signature link below) that are not already in there which is the vast majority listed in that link (which contains ALL movies i scored a 7 or higher). there is 196 movies total listed in there.
but with that said, just to list my 10/10's that are not in the Top 250 (IN NO ORDER)...
-Road to Perdition (2002) -Lord of War (2005) -Open Range (2003) -Training Day (2001)
etc etc. ill leave it here since i don't want to type a novel.

The list is rigged, I would give it no stock. We should come up with a new top 250 list of our own for true film fans.

@daredevil1 ; you said "The list is rigged, I would give it no stock. We should come up with a new top 250 list of our own for true film fans." i would not say IMDb's Top 250 is rigged but it does make me wonder how they calculate their Top 250. maybe it's some sorta balance between popularity/total votes/votes from a wider range of age groups/the scores people give etc. either way, i don't think it's possible to come up with a list that will please everyone as some people might think the Top 250 is too mainstream where as i think if you get too far away from the mainstream then it's a bad thing in general as, at least based on my own tastes in movies, i tend to think more known movies tend to be better than lesser known movies in general (which i expect is inline with most people in that more mainstream movies tend to be better than ones on the other end of the spectrum in general). with that said... i am sure there are some movies i consider amongst my favorites that i imagine quite a few random people on the street likely never heard of though. but from what i can tell... the IMDb Top 250 does seem to have a fairly decent balance of movies that are known and probably more unknown amongst the masses. so i guess until another site gets more popular IMDb, or something like that, is probably the best we have in trying to determine good movies amongst a decent portion of people out there. outside of that... i guess all we got to go by is how well known a movie is to the more common person as that's probably a good indicator of a movies true popularity/worth amongst a wider range of people. speaking of 'wider range of people'... i do think there are some movies that have more wider appeal than others as i think movies like Fight Club are probably more limited to the really young crowds where as i feel something like The Green Mile would be a movie i would think has wide appeal amongst a wider range of age groups. just some thoughts as i am sure you can look at something like this plenty of ways

The following formula is used to calculate the Top Rated 250 titles. This formula provides a true 'Bayesian estimate', which takes into account the number of votes each title has received, minimum votes required to be on the list, and the mean vote for all titles: weighted rating (WR) = (v ÷ (v+m)) × R + (m ÷ (v+m)) × C Where: R = average for the movie (mean) = (Rating) v = number of votes for the movie = (votes) m = minimum votes required to be listed in the Top 250 C = the mean vote across the whole report Here ya go

SaMcRoYeah, Road to Perdition is a masterpiece. a word i rarely hand out to movies because as like i have said before not only does it have solid visuals, some of it's best moments visually also happen to be great moments in the movie to (Tommy Gun scene with Tom Hanks/Paul Newman and the end scene with the 'picture taking') and the score of the movie further amps it up as you don't see movies with scores that grab your attention much but this is one of them that really ads to the overall movie. that's why Road to Perdition is my 'go to' movie when i think great cinematography as i can't think of another movie that can top it, from that all around visual aspect, when i factor in everything i have said. so while there is nine movie i gave a 10/10 and it's hard to name anything as my #1 movie straight up for sure i would say Road to Perdition would be in the running for me given that info above. still, i can't say it's my #1 movie definitively though even though i can say i would likely take it over some of the movies i gave a 10/10 to if pressed. but after a certain point it just becomes too difficult to narrow down. p.s. i noticed you mentioned 'Children of Men' but i found that movie to be pretty average/forgettable.

Glengarry Glen Ross Ed Wood Edward Scissorhands Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Babe Brokeback Mountain The Social Network American Graffiti Pleasantville Adaptation. Airplane! Young Frankenstein The Insider
Tried to balance personal preferences with movies I'm surprised aren't there already.
And though it's still there, Jaws is rapidly falling out.

There are so many. 'The Exorcist' and 'Muholland Drive' immediately come to mind but there are many more.
