We'll see. I think it's good to let Johnny go for a while. I'm sure he's pretty much worn out on it at this point, much as I've grown up with this franchise.

I wonder if they plan on making prequels. They spent some time with a young Jack Sparrow in Dead Men Tell No Tales and retconned some things.

I’ve never seen any of them. I’ve seen trailers and they don’t interest me. I like the action/ adventure/ sci-fi and I like Spinal Tap but I didn’t think it would make a good marriage.

It's like the MCU formula: light, jokey family entertainment without actual substance or stakes. J Depp is a tragic case like R Downy Jun, a highlight of his generation that fell over being typecast in the same role played to death for money until he became a caricature.

The first one was ok. I rewatched it a while ago.
The On Stranger Tides had promise--some neat ideas like the ships in the bottles.
But it had some lame elements too.
